What are the responsibilities and job description for the GME Intern position at Dana Corp?
Dana Inc. is seeking for an Industrial Engineer intern to do hands on work and ready to apply IE knowledge in a manufacturing environment. You will have the opportunity to be a part of Automation/IE group in Dana. The summer intern will assist in Automation integration studies, Time & Motion studies, Simulation studies and layouts. All activities are conducted within a diverse and global manufacturing environment.
Primary Job Responsibilities
* Assist in Automation projects. This includes the integration of Cobots, robots and other automation equipment in manufacturing facilities.
* Assis in cost savings initiatives by improving cycle times, reducing OEE and labor efficiency.
* Conduct studies pertaining most efficient sequence of operation and workflows.
* Establish methods of optimizing utilization of production facilities and space.
* Work with others to be subject matter expert in flow and cycle analysis.
* Work on flow studies to support the introduction of AGV systems. This would include raw, in process and finish parts across the plant floor.
* Evaluate line performance and propose improvements of existing lines using MES systems.
* Participate in plant automation studies with the goal of labor reduction and OEE improvements.
* Collect data and analytical information for the dedicated projects.
* Investigate and propose requirements of auto load and unload of trucks.
* Assist in developing PFEP for facilities.
* Solves IE problems of various levels of complexity.
* Individual job duties may vary.
Required Education & Skills:
* Enrolled and completed at least two years in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering
* Communication skills - ability to work with a team and individuals. Not to be intimidated of asking questions
* Proficient user of Microsoft products
* Knowledge of manufacturing simulation - Discrete event simulation
* Initiative - the ability to see an opportunity and act upon it
* Detail orientation - the ability to complete the project referred to under initiative
