The EHS Manager leads, plans, coordinates, creates, innovates, supports and directs the Deland Site Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program to support compliance with EHS regulations and standards and to drive the effort to mitigate or eliminate EHS risks with a focus on Danaher Business System (DBS) and improvement of leading EHS indicators that support a long-term vision and strategy of EHS excellence.
The EHS Manager must influence and lead associates, set direction and vision, and provide support to all levels within the organization via the Danaher Business System. This individual will use problem-solving (PSP) skills with a systematic and analytical approach while partnering with key stakeholders to drive to root cause and provide sustainable solutions. The EHS Manager will communicate with employees at different levels and must deliver effective communication both written and verbal.
The EHS Manager must capitalize on emotional intelligence to manage and resolve conflicts effectively. Additionally, they will oversee and prioritize multiple demanding projects and prioritize the critical few. qualified candidate will have strong business acumen and be successful in driving the platform’s EHS initiatives using Danaher Business System (DBS) tools.
This position reports to the Deland Plant Manager and maintains a strong dotted-line functional report to and frequent interactions with the Global Director of EHS and is an onsite role in the Deland facility.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations and laws.
Lead efforts to continuously improve EHS performance and operations, including environmental/sustainability projects, conservation activities, and projects focused on improving facility efficiency, preventive maintenance programs, and energy reduction efforts.
Define and lead EHS improvement initiatives across the sites (ergonomics, industrial hygiene, engineering controls, PPE, waste management, etc.) Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of the workplace and make recommendations for improvements.
Identify and assess potential hazards and risks in the workplace and develop plans to mitigate them investigate and report accidents and incidents and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Manage and maintain safety records, including training records, inspection reports, and incident reports coordinate with other departments to ensure that all safety-related issues are addressed and resolved develop and conduct safety training programs for employees.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all environmental, health, and safety-related issues.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related field and 5+ years of experience in environmental, health, and safety management.
Proven experience and in-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, including being the primary point of contact in site audits, inspections, etc.
Knowledge of and experience with Hazardous Waste regulations, RCRA, SPCC, and Air Permits OSHA General Industry and Construction Regulations and detailed knowledge of and experience with implementing EHS policies, procedures, and programs.
Experience developing and implementing safety programs and procedures.
Strong demonstrated ability to problem solve and motivate and influence others to achieve safety adherence.
It would be a plus if you also possess:
- EHS Certification (e.g., CIH, CSP, CHMM)
- Experience with continuous improvement
