The EHS Specialist is responsible for supporting the plant strategy for Environmental, Health, and Safety at the Cytiva Westborough, Shrewsbury, and Southborough facilities. The EHS Specialist works under the direction and supervision of the EHS Leader. This individual will also function in a team environment to ensure EHS compliance and identify, prevent and resolve potential EHS issues and to mitigate EHS liabilities associated with current operations.
What you'll do
- Lead certain assigned aspects (technical, regulatory/third party interface, reporting, permitting, compliance, financial, administrative, etc.) of projects and permits in compliance with relevant regulatory programs and Cytiva corporate policies. This position will have an emphasis on environmental programs - air, water, waste, and sustainability - supporting all 3 locations.
- Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy/protocol.
- Keep management apprised of progress and significant developments on key projects.
- Maintain all required records and documentation.
- Assist EHS team in data analysis to identify trends. Develop corrective and preventative actions.
- Own or actively participate in one or more Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Framework Elements.
- Facilitate site specific Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Training requirements.
- Verify that safety equipment and PPE are available to employees and monitor their use to ensure proper fit and use.
- Prepare and review specifications and orders for the purchase of safety and environmental equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards.
Who you are
- Bachelor of Science with emphasis in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Health and Safety or related technical discipline.
- 5 - 7 years experience in EHS supporting a manufacturing site with experience in both safety and environmental programs, permitting and reporting
- Regulatory knowledge working under U.S. federal and state and/or equivalent regulations such as OSHA, Clean Air, Clean Water, CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, DOT, etc. or capable of learning requirements.
- Proven project and program management skills.
