Job Description
The Safety, Environmental and Health Technician, working at the Longmont, Colorado facility will provide support, leadership and/or facilitation to employees and teams at all levels in the successful implementation and execution of Safety, Environmental and Health programs throughout the facility.
Perform procedures necessary to ensure compliance with the SEH and ensure the personal safety of the incumbent including eye safety, hearing conservation, machine safety guards, ergonomic movement, lock out/tag out, SDS procedures, and other applicable SEH regulations.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $28 per hour. Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. Job Responsibilities
- Actively support the implementation of all SEH elements, including, but not limited to:
- Environmental and Safety Aspects, Impacts, Objects and Targets
- Cardinal Safety, Ergonomics, Industrial Hygiene, Solid Waste, Air, Water, Wastewater, Chemical Management, Emergency Preparedness programs
- Monitor contractor adherence to SEH programs, policies, and procedures.
- Provide technical support in the facilitation of SEH audits, external and internal.
- Monitor, track, and assist in the completion of SEH corrective actions, including:
- Analyze and support safety improvements while collaborating closely with Engineers, Maintenance, Supervisors and Cell Teams
- Assist in the coordination and implementation of safety potential hazard correction.
- Train individuals on the fundamentals and various elements of SEH
- Ensuring that all chemicals in the departments have been identified and ensuring that the SDS program in maintained. Labeling all chemical containers, as needed.
- Ensure that all work activities are performed in accordance with established safety and environmental standards.
- Support in maintaining an atmosphere of continuous improvement and team efforts for accomplishing departmental and plant goals.
Perform other related duties as assigned by SEH Manager
Background & Skills
High school diploma or equivalent
10-hour OSHA General Industry training or ability to successfully complete training upon hire
Working knowledge of the RCRA standards
Demonstrated leadership competencies including ability to:
Willingness to immediately and appropriately correct unsafe behavior
Facilitate and lead teams in such activities as SEH committees, accident investigations, etc.
Present SEH issues and programs in front of various sized groups (i.e., plant wide meetings, leadership meetings)
Possess competencies to direct and influence other without formal leadership authority.
Work with minimal to no supervision; high degree of self-motivation and initiative.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively with minimal supervision in a high involvement, collaborative work atmosphere, effectively supporting the work activities of employees such as: area supervisor, engineer, quality control, peers, and customers.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, weekends, and any shift as needed, as well as be on call.
3 years manufacturing experience involving the operation and/or maintenance of precision machining equipment preferred, AND one of the following:
1 year of direct SEH experience or,
2 years indirect experience Safety Committee, or support to SEH functions
Preferred qualifications
Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and 45001 management systems
Formal RCRA training
HAZWOPER training
OSHA 511 General Industry training
Bilingual/English/Spanish Fluency
