Job Summary:
The Field Safety Supervisor will report to the Safety Director and is responsible for promoting safe and efficient operations in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as company and customer safety and operational requirements. This role requires the ability to work in the fast-paced, dynamic transportation industry while maintaining up to date knowledge of applicable regulations and standards and upholding the company’s core values.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Duties/Responsibilities:
· Conducting documented observations and spot checks of personnel work practices primarily in the field and providing coaching where opportunities are found.
· Respond to the scene of incidents and accidents in the field and on location.
· Compile and document physical evidence of the scene and filing according to company standards.
· Lead incident investigations and create, maintain, and file investigation documentation.
· Communicate to management pertinent details of each attended incident both while on scene and in follow up investigation.
· Conduct inspections of both yard and customer facilities for safety, maintenance, and efficiency failures, and reporting concerns to the company and/or customer.
· Follow up on observed deficiencies to ensure acceptable resolution.
· Deliver coaching and counseling on Video Based Safety System (Samsara) driving behaviors, monitor performance of assigned personnel and provide intervention according to company standards.
· Provide training support in the field and classroom setting as needed, including in-cab driving training when directed.
· Advising and assisting operations with compliance matters for company policy, customer requirements and applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
· Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Knowledge of SMITH safe driving principles and their application.
· Strong critical thinking and investigative skills.
· Has strong verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent time management skills.
· Effective communication style with ability to adapt as needed to ensure comprehension.
· Operational knowledge of all equipment, products, and customer locations
· Understand applicable DOT, FMCSA and OSHA regulations and their application.
· Intermediate skill in MS Office Suite applications, primarily Word and Excel.
· Bilingual English/Spanish required.
Education and Experience:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· CDL Experience, preferably in aggregate or tanker operations.
· FL Driver’s License with acceptable driving record per company standards.
· Experience in transportation supervision or training.
Physical Requirements:
· Lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
· Ability to climb, kneel, squat, bend, and twist.
· Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
· Work outdoors in hot and humid conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
