Market Analyst

Darigold seeks a Market Analyst to help forecast price, manage risks, and assess commercial opportunities associated with physical and financial dairy markets. The Market Analyst will build and maintain a database of various price, production, and trade statistics, and will perform advanced analysis to aide Darigold in achieving its commercial and strategic goals.

This highly visible role will report directly to the VP of Central Portfolio Management and will serve as the link between CPM, the wider sales network, and the Director of Risk Management. The Market Analyst will be required to utilize statistical and econometric analysis to identify opportunities in the financial and physical dairy markets. Additionally, the Market Analyst will be support Darigold’s global sales network through presenting thought leading research.

What You Will Do

• Perform data mining, including processing, cleansing, and verifying data integrity
• Complement Darigold market data with third-party sources
• Automate data collection procedures
• Apply statistical, mathematical programming, and machine learning techniques
• Implement and maintain a supply/demand balance model to support market intelligence activities
• Develop and maintain a risk model to support hedging and trading activities
• Execute ad-hoc analyses
• Communicate analytical solutions effectively

• Support the identification and mitigate financial risk
• Responsible for ensuring CFO, Portfolio Leads and Dir. Of Risk Management have transparent, timely, and clear visibility on price forecasts
• Support Darigold’s sales network through adhoc commodity market analysis and research

What You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in statistics, applied mathematics, computer science, economics, finance, or related discipline. Master’s degree preferred
• 3 years’ experience in data science
• Proficiency with data mining, statistical analysis, machine learning, and mathematical programming
• Experience with Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, and programming languages (e.g., Python)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment

Nice to Have’s

• Commercial commodity risk management experience with a strong knowledge of markets, products, customers, and future trends in the industry, market and factors impacting the cooperative. Exuding commercial acumen with strategic agility and discipline.
• Ability to convey complex models and forecasts in a clear and concise manner that inspires confidence
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent numerical and quantitative skills, with a proven track record for delivering thought leading analysis
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, highly accurate and detail focused
• Must be organized with time management skills possessing continuous improvement mindset
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong working relationships with internal and external customers
• Skilled in Excel and other data management tools, able to manipulate and communicate complex data sets
