Cost Accountant

Calculate and analyze product costs, perform regular audits of costs and master data, and complete month end controlling processes.

Day-to-Day Role:

• Accurately prepare cost estimates, on a daily basis, and support the periodic updating of cost estimates
• Prepare routine and correcting journal entries and account reconciliations, on a monthly basis
• Analyze plant financial data, including cost center reports, activity rates, variances, and inventory valuation and perform flux analysis
• Complete timely month-end and year-end close of the controlling module; perform error resolution and root cause analysis
• Create accurate and concise verbal and written communications to internal departments about accounting-related information
• Participate in special projects individually or as part of a cross functional team
• Maintain master data, statistical key figures, and supporting documentation in support of the controlling module
• Monitor internal controls which supports segregation of duties and adequate control over company assets
• Maintain secure control of accounting related documentation such as invoices, checks, journal entries, and financial statements
• Maintain accurate job aids for all duties assigned

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

• 
  Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in accounting, finance, or business or combination of equivalent experience
• Two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, or cost analysis
• Microsoft Excel skills to include the ability to create spreadsheets (e.g., formulas such as V-lookup, graphs, pivot tables)
• Ability to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal customers
• Proven analytical problem solver
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to utilize business sense and creativity to develop new ideas and solutions
• Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
• Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Works well in a team environment, working towards the common goal of the department as a whole

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• CPA or CMA
• Cost analysis experience
• SAP experience
• Knowledge of query, reporting, and data analysis tools
