Position Purpose
With general direction from and in consultation with the Director of Alumni Engagement and Strategic Events, leads a comprehensive effort focused on hybrid events strategy, project management, and events execution in support of the Medical & Healthcare Advancement team in order to strengthen donor and alumni engagement, stewardship, and advance philanthropy for Dartmouth Health and the Geisel School of Medicine. Oversees a department-wide hybrid events program and budget, supervises the Associate Director of Engagement Events and the Events Coordinator, and directs the planning and production of more than 100 events annually. Serves as a leader and partner with colleagues across Dartmouth College and its graduate schools and the Dartmouth Health system in order to leverage events to increase engagement of Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Health audiences.

  • Proficiency in zoom, WebEx and other digital meeting and event tools.
  • Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge or comparable CRM software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to professionally represent Geisel and Dartmouth Health.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Calm under pressure, with demonstrated judgement and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry event supplies.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-10 years’ experience in advancement event coordination and/or related experience preferred.
  • Prior work in a higher ed or health care setting preferred.
Proficiency in executing effective hybrid and digital events.

Description
Program Leadership
  • Informed by institutional goals and fundraising priorities, leads the Medical Healthcare Advancement hybrid engagement events strategy and planning to strengthen engagement of donor and alumni audiences, advance cultivation and stewardship, and inspire giving to Geisel School of Medicine and Dartmouth Health.
  • Directs the planning, execution, evaluation, and follow-up for all engagement events, ensuring a level of professionalism and quality that enhances the reputation of Geisel and Dartmouth Health among constituents.
  • Develops and manages office-wide events budget ensuring that the allocation of budget and human resources reflects overall strategic priorities of the office.
  • Partners with multi-disciplinary teams and leads internal and cross-departmental working groups to accomplish strategic program goals.
  • Establishes and maintains professional working relationships with institutional leaders and their teams.
  • Ensures that leadership participation in development and alumni events is strategic and productive.
  • Leads coordination with College partners seeking participation by the Dean and the CEO in advancement events.
  • Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with events colleagues across the College, its professional schools, and Dartmouth Health. Serves as the office’s primary liaison with the Dartmouth College Advancement Events office. Works with College partners to ensure strategic engagement of Geisel audiences at College events and to engage Dartmouth alumni in health professions in Geisel events.
  • Monitors trends and best practices in virtual, hybrid, and in-person engagement events in order to capitalize on the value of events as part of broader engagement strategy.

Planning and management
  • Develops and partners with internal colleagues in formulating strategy and identifying target audiences for proposed events and in defining measures of success.
  • Directs staff and financial resources to ensure all aspects of each event have the support needed to flawlessly execute and deliver on agreed-upon objectives.
  • Works with event stakeholders, communications colleagues, and presenters to ensure program content meets event objectives.
  • Collaborates with Communications colleagues to ensure event messaging, visual design, and collateral support event objectives and are appropriate for target audiences.
  • Directs the development of invitation lists in accordance with event strategies and target audiences.
  • Leads, establishes, and incorporates industry best practices for event data management and metrics.
  • Leads the timely preparation of leadership event briefings.
  • Responsible for appropriate staffing of events to ensure smooth and professional execution.
  • Leads post-event evaluation to assess success in meeting event goals and to inform future event planning. Oversees implementation of post-event communication with attendees and non-attendee groups.
  • Develops and maintains professional working relationships with vendors and venue staff, including facilities staff across D-H, Geisel, and the College.
  • Stays abreast of relevant College, Dartmouth Health, and regulatory permitting requirements and alcohol policies, ensuring compliance with these for all events sponsored by this office.

  • Develops institutional best practices and tools that can better support and enhance other special events across Geisel and Dartmouth Health.
  • Establishes, maintains, and reports out on annual performance metrics for events and staff.
