Dartmouth Health's Department of Psychiatry, in a unique collaboration with the State of New Hampshire, seeks a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to be based primarily at Hampstead Hospital, our affiliated state child and adolescent and young adult psychiatric and residential facility, located in Hampstead, NH.
In this role, you will provide state-of-the-art acute psychiatric and substance related disorder needs of children, adolescents, and young adults. We work collaboratively with an experienced team of fellow nurse practitioners, psychiatrists, and medical providers to deliver high-quality care. The aim of the state-academic partnership is to offer outstanding care, train others in this important work, and add to our field’s understanding of how to optimally serve this population.
About Hampstead Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility:
Hampstead Hospital and Residential Treatment Facility is an accredited State of New Hampshire specialty hospital that serves the acute psychiatric and substance related disorder needs of children, adolescents, and young adults. For Children and Adolescent population, our facility provides individualized, behavioral programming based on both cognitive functioning and psychiatric needs. Two distinct treatment programs, the Acute Psychiatric Unit and the Intensive Behavioral Unit, provide treatment for over 40 children and adolescents. Our psychiatric and substance related disorder services for children, adolescents, and young adults include: a 15-bed Inpatient Hospitalization unit, Partial Hospitalization as a step-down from our inpatient treatment, and a 12-bed Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility.

Responsibilities
- Ensure the clinical competence of the Associate Providers to meet current standards of care.
- In collaboration with Section Chief/Medical Director manage professional and patient care issues with individual Associate Providers.
- Lead Associate Provider group in collaborative practice with Section Chief/Medical Director, Attending physicians and all other members of the inter-professional care team.
- Ensure licensing, certification, credentials and privileges are maintained and meet current standard of practice.
- Develop and support clinical, research, quality improvement and educational activities within the Associate Provider group and mentor individuals in the achievement of their professional goals.
- Facilitate the identification, measurement and evaluation of Associate Provider outcomes. Actively support the mission, vision and initiatives of the department and D-H.
- Ensure Associate Provider compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Participate in Section/Department meetings and other leadership meetings related to the role of Associate Providers.
- Work directly with Section Chief/Medical Director, Department Administrative Director and Practice Manager in planning and reviewing budget related to Associate Providers. Includes, but not limited to, review of billing practices, salaries, operating expenses and productivity.
- Monitor and modify staffing patterns to ensure appropriate clinical coverage.
- In collaboration with Section Chief/Medical Director, assume accountability for staffing justification, performance evaluations, hiring and termination of Associate Providers.
- In collaboration with Section Chief/Medical Director participate in the recruitment of new Associate Provider staff by establishing search committees, facilitate the screening/hiring of applicants, and assist in the development of the Associate Provider orientation/mentoring program.
- Coordinate student Associate Provider experiences.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Master's degree required.
- 5 years of clinical experience preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and management experience preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and concisely both verbally and in writing with individuals and groups at various levels and various disciplines.
