Responsibilities for Internal Candidates:
The Maintenance Unit Supervisor is responsible for:
- Maintaining a safe work environment and a workplace that causes no harm to people or the environment.
- Leading individual safety discussions and job-specific safety reviews.
- Supporting operating results through the management of subordinates, with emphasis on quantity, quality, timeliness, safety, recovery, and delivery performance.
- Developing individuals in the organization by providing challenging assignments for the craftspeople and by providing training, coaching, and mentoring.
- Ensuring work is allocated fairly and clearly assigned to crew members; formulating and assigning tasks within guidelines established by Department management and prioritizing work based on knowledge of business criticality.
- Deciding and deploying appropriate crewing arrangements for planned and unplanned situations based on absences, schedule requirements, equipment availability, and vacations within labor agreement guidelines.
- Leading a technically capable maintenance workforce that values diversity and is customer-oriented, responsive, and flexible.
- Working with craftspeople to apply root cause analysis and rapid problem-solving techniques to maintain or restore production.
- Gathering data to assist in the application of root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques for major exceptions.
- Effective asset management in a cost-effective manner, including proper equipment operations, world-class equipment availability, and long-term viability of equipment.
- Advancing the business objectives regarding quality (consistency and reliability), costs (supplies), waste elimination, and lean manufacturing.
- Making decisions about differential performance, both those requiring recognition and reward and those requiring discipline, in a fair and equitable manner with supporting documentation of the appropriateness of actions taken.
- Frequently seeking cooperation from, persuading or influencing others, and developing relationships to resolve problems, change people's minds, or directly produce customer satisfaction. Occasionally dealing with sensitive interpersonal situations.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates:
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical background is a plus.
- Experience in a union environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $79,508.00 - $81,542.00 per year
