The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource department including but not limited to recruitment, pay, benefits, leaves, and payroll.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
HR Generalist Administration
Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, performance and talent management, productivity, recognition, and morale.
Supports with company’s recruitment process. Facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; maintains recruitment reports and ensures recruitment/hiring approvals are obtained. Creates PO’s and tracks agency fees for payment. Coordinates on-boarding process and keeps employee electronic files current. Primary back-up for Senior HR Generalist.
Administers the company’s rewards programs; maintains up to date wage scales, process annual merit increases. Promotions/demotions and adjustments.
Assists in the maintenance of the company’s performance management program; ensures timely completion of new employee and annual reviews and creates in-process reports on demand.
Administers scholarship payments, tuition reimbursements, and gym membership credits.
Administers the company’s separation process. Prepares paperwork, conducts exit interviews, and updates employee files.
Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate HR Team member.
Payroll Administration
Supports the administration, processing, and running of the company’s weekly payroll.
Maintains payroll records, spreadsheets, and information for the complete, accurate, and timely completion of payroll. Processes employee data for new hires, changes, and additions and maintains payroll records.
Prepares weekly financial reports. Participates in month-end/year-end reporting and annual audits. Creates reports on demand and ensures government and company reporting compliance.
Primary back-up for the HR Payroll Specialist.
Benefits/Leave Administration
Administers all benefit and leave programs such as healthcare, employee engagement, retirement, COBRA, disability, workers’ compensation, and government mandated leaves.
Works closely with the corporate office and healthcare vendors to resolve employee benefit concerns, answer questions, and provide guidance.
Processes all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, and FMLA. Effectively interprets FMLA, CFRA, and ADA implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities and makes recommendations to employee leave policies. Maintains the company’s COVID programs and reporting.
Manages employee on-boarding; documents, policies, I-9 and e/verify paperwork. Conducts benefit presentation for all new hires during the onboarding process.
Plans and hosts employee celebration events. Coordinates the Service Award Program and recognition gifts for employee life events.
Ensure all compliance reporting, forms, and posters are up to date and maintained accurately.
Provides backup of duties for HR Team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree Human Resource Management or related fields. Professionally certified in Human Resource Management (PHR, SHRM- CP).
Three to five years of experience in human resources, payroll, and benefits/leave administration.
Working knowledge of human resource laws and regulations, payroll administration, benefits/leave administration.
Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to HR, payroll, and benefits/leave administration.
