Data Architect

Job Summary:

Data Society seeks a Snowflake Data Architect who is ready to play a key role within a rapidly growing and high-performing team. Ensure new features and subject areas are modeled to integrate with existing structures and provide a consistent view. Develop and maintain documentation of the data architecture, data flow and data models of the data warehouse appropriate for various audiences. Provide direction on adoption of Cloud technologies (Snowflake ) and industry best practices in the field of data warehouse architecture and modeling. As this position will help to support federal contracts with security requirements, you must be a US Citizen to qualify.

Responsibilities:

• Develop strategies for warehouse implementation, data acquisition and access, and data archiving and recovery.
• Design and build relational databases for data storage and processing.
• Evaluate new data sources for adherence to organization’s quality standards and ease of integration.
• Build data models and define the structure, attributes, and nomenclature of data elements.
• Design large scale Data architectures with Data Dictionaries, Data Repositories, Data Governance, Big Data Systems, System Latency, Data Recovery, Disaster Recovery, Publish and Subscribe, Service-Oriented Architecture, Representational State Transfer, File Transfer, Data Lakes, and Chain of Custody of Data.
• Deploy large scale data architectures to include use of Data Lakes, chunking, large file shares, or increased time limits due to lack of quick and large storage.
• Design and provide oversight of manual review data.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a relevant discipline. A combination of experience and education exceeding the degree/education requirements may be considered based on demonstrated experience and certification(s).
• Diverse knowledge of cloud warehouse and database systems.
• 3 years of experience with working closely with business and IT groups to coordinate current and future plans and activities, including coordination and technical assistance to facilitate specific data analytics.
• Excellent organizational and analytical abilities.
• Superior team-working skills, and a desire to learn, contribute, and explore.
• Superior verbal written communication skills.
• Exemplary critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• The ability to work independently and in a team environment.

This position is flexible to be remote anywhere within the USA, though preference will be given to candidates in the metro Richmond, VA or Washington, DC areas. Salary will be between $140,000 - $180,000 per year. In addition, this position will be eligible for full benefits including Unlimited PTO, 17 paid holidays in 2023, Healthcare, 401k, Metro Transit subsidy, Paid Parental Leave, and Paid Disability.
