What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, Data+AI Events position at Databricks?

The Director, Data AI Events will be responsible for developing the Data AI event strategy, building new and optimizing existing programs that maximize impact on various targets. This individual has a proven track record of hiring and leading a best-in-class team of talented, highly effective event marketers. This role requires an enthusiastic individual with strong communication and organizational skills to lead the team in evolving, marketing, and executing our Data AI flagship event (in-person and virtual) and World Tour events for scale. The candidate should also enjoy developing strong relationships with their executive, sales, and marketing stakeholders and thrive on creating innovative, out-of-the-box event experiences for our target audiences.
The impact you will have:
- Multi-year Data AI global event strategy defined based on program/ROI analysis, business imperatives, program results, and stakeholder collaboration
- Fully optimized event program strategy derived from evaluation of target audiences, demand generation engine performance, tested hypotheses, and analysis of conversion rates
- Meet or exceed defined targets for live and virtual events to increase audience composition and volume, attendee engagement, Net Promoter Score (NPS), pipeline/pipe-in-room (PIR), and down funnel conversion rates.
- Development of a broadly valuable content strategy that showcases the latest innovation in data and AI for all our target audiences
- Enhanced sponsorship/registration revenue strategy
- Optimized workstream project management to ensure scalable and efficient operations
- Seamless flow of leads from events into marketing automation systems and to sales team stakeholders to maximize pipeline generation and conversion
- Strong relationships built with Executive, Marketing, Sales, and other stakeholders globally
- Hire and facilitate growth and engagement of team members through thought partnership and mentorship
What we look for:
- 10 years experience managing largescale events, including at least 7 years managing people
- Proven track record of building/managing high performing teams
- Experience having pipeline building responsibility and accountability for sales
- Experience holding/managing large event budgets
- Experience building audience acquisition strategy and Sales accountability/enablement
- Experience driving increased demand and conversions for corporate events
- Experience leading production and complex workstream operations of 15k events
- Strong background in data management/analytics and metrics and reporting out to key stakeholders
- Ability to use CMS, Registration (Rainfocus), CRM (SFDC), and data visualization (Tableau) tools and marketing automation systems (Marketo)
- Travel for events will be required (when appropriate)
