HOURLY RATE: 22.00 hour plus depending on education and experience
Retention Bonus available - $1,000.00 paid out in 4 equal quarterly installments.

Duties & Responsibilities: Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
- Under the joint oversight of the principal of the school and the Juvenile Court Officer IV supervising Scott County, the school based Juvenile Court Liaison will be and employee of the Davenport Community School District
- This person will perform the specified duties relating to young people under supervision of the Juvenile Court Office. This person will also perform duties as assigned to prevent or reduce truancy, behavior problems and / or failing grades.
- This person must be willing to work as part of a team focused on improved student performance.
TRUANCEY
- Receives referrals from school officials regarding students with attendance problems.
- Investigates attendance referrals including in-home visits.
- Provide short-term counseling services to families whose children are experiencing attendance problems; may transport children to/from school to ensure their attendance
- Refer to/coordinate with other agency services needed to assist families with school attendance issues
JUVENILE PROBATION SERVICES
- Aids in the supervision and counseling of juveniles under the Juvenile Court Services supervision.
- Coordinates services provided by various agencies to assigned juveniles and their families.
- Consults/coordinates with school officials on each probationer’s educational progress.
- Provides direct supervision sufficient to maintain appropriate school behavior.
- May include 1-1 supervision in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, school grounds.
- Makes home and community visits as needed to ensure compliance with school and probation programs, including attendance.
- Responsible for the implementation of all Juvenile Court orders and dispositions of juveniles on caseload.
- Other duties as assigned may include special programming during the summer months
DELINQUENCY PREVENTION ACTIVITIES
- Counsels’ youth at risk of delinquent activity.
- Provides information regarding juvenile crime and its consequences to students within the Davenport Community School District.
- Makes in-home and community visits as needed.
All other duties as assigned by the principal of the school and/or the Juvenile Court Office IV supervision of Scott County.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -
- Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
- Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
- Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
- Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
- Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting

Special Qualification Desired:(Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)
- Must be at least 21
- Successful Candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential
- Knowledge of Juvenile Court Law, procedures and processes
- Knowledge of Davenport Community School District procedures and policies related to truancy.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle crisis effectively
- Ability to communicate with other – through written work and orally
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, criminal justice, sociology or related social sciences
- Must agree to criminal and child abuse record checks
- Must possess a valid Iowa motor vehicle operator’s license
- Must have experience with restorative practices or willing to be trained
