GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Support II, Clinical (Lab) resolves problem specimens and/or requisitions in a timely manner to ensure specimen integrity of samples prior to laboratory analysis and testing. Perform send-out activities for reference Laboratory. This position acts as a support to the Medical Technologist, and performs duties as assigned by the specific department supervisor/manager including instrument maintenance, reagent change and preparation, data entry, processing and other non-technical duties in the Laboratory. This position reports to the Manager/Supervisor, Laboratory (Lab).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs Problem solving duties with respect to duplicate specimens, specimens with no requisitions, incorrect specimens received, mislabeled specimens, and other identified problems. Responsible for creating, addressing, and resolving ServiceNow tickets. Compile and report out incoming shipment information.
Performs Clinical Support I duties and responsibilities as needed to support the workload, reagent inventories, and specimen handling of the Hematology, Chemistry, and Special Chemistry Departments.
Performs send-out duties according to the policies
Trains new teammates.
Other duties assigned.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, TRAINING, OR QUALIFICATIONS
Associate or Bachelor degree
Critical thinking skills
Medical terminology training or equivalent laboratory experience
Some specialty or on the job clinical lab training, laboratory accessioning or data entry
Basic computer skills
Customer service skills
Clinical Lab experience: 1 year required, 2 years preferred
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent in the written and verbal skills necessary to successfully perform the essential functions, duties, and responsibilities of the position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Level I – Job required tasks routinely involve a potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, tissues or potential spills or splashes. Use of appropriate personal protection measures is required for every healthcare provider in these positions. Exposure or potential exposure may be required as a condition of employment. Normal hazards associated with frequent business travel by car.

PHYSICAL DEMAND
Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following activities:
- Ability to lift minimum of 5 lbs to a max of 50 lbs unassisted and able to stand, sit, stoop, walk, stretch, reach, and use full range of body motions.
- Manual dexterity as required for specific equipment and ability to use computer keyboard and peripherals.
- Exposure to 2-8 C temperature (walk in cooler environment)
- Ability to sit or stand for an extended period.
