Day Pitney, an AmLaw 200 firm, is seeking a full-time Pricing Analyst. The Pricing Analyst will assist with analysis and reporting related to client billing arrangements and firm matter management. The individual hired will interface with billing attorneys to budget, monitor and evaluate budget to actuals and profitability of matters including fixed fee and other alternative fee arrangements (legal project management (LPM) function) and will work closely with the firm CFO and Director of Finance. The successful candidate will be a motivated, proactive, technology savvy, team member able to work in a fast paced environment. This candidate will also be able to prioritize and shift gears as projects arise.
Responsibilities:
This position will assist with analysis and reporting related to client billing arrangements and firm matter management including but not limited to:
- Using financial modeling to produce and/or evaluate billing arrangement proposal
- Work daily with LPM software (Budget Manager), Business Intelligence Software (Iridium BI), financial systems (Aderant and InTapp) and customized dashboards and reporting
- Perform billing rate analyses of publicly available market data
- Prepare reports on firm, client and matters and complete financial statements, monthly reports, and profitability analyses
- Prepare matter budgets used in proposals and matter planning
- Generate project management statistics
- Assist with the preparation of RFP responses
- Assist with the analysis of alternative fee arrangement proposals
- Research billing history and benchmarking similar previous matters
- Perform ongoing analysis and reporting from LPM software
- Review daily alerts from LPM software, prepare dashboards and distribute to appropriate attorneys
- Perform ongoing and annual updates to LPM software to capture matter status, lessons learned, current rates and other data maintenance, as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree – preferably in accounting, finance, or economics
- Minimum of five years working experience in a similar capacity for another professional services firm
- Comfort working with financial systems and software
- Extremely high level of proficiency in MS Office; especially Excel – must be able to use pivot tables and V-lookups
- The ideal candidate has the capacity to work independently as well as part of a team and is detail-oriented, has strong analytical and interpersonal skills and is well organized
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of Aderant, Budget Manager toolset, and SQL
- Business Intelligence software and Excel cubes knowledge
- Legal industry experience strongly preferred
