Job Description:
Are you passionate about helping others and making a meaningful impact in someone's life? We are seeking a motivated and empathetic Personal Care Assistant to provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) for a younger adult client in need.
Responsibilities:
Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) - 9.5 hours per week:
- Bed Mobility: Assist with adjusting in bed and preparing for the day (as needed).
- Transfers: Provide support with all transfers as needed.
- Locomotion: Aid in walking outdoors and navigating indoors where wheelchair use is limited (as needed).
- Eating: Assist in meal setup including opening containers and cutting food.
- Dressing: Help with fasteners, buttons, shoe tying, and donning jackets.
- Bathing: Assist with transfers to the shower, washing hair, and passing bathing items.
- Personal Hygiene: Provide assistance with lotion application and remind about oral care.
- Health Maintenance: Offer support with therapeutic massages, medication reminders, and administering injections.
Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs) - 3 hours per week:
- Housework: Assist with light housekeeping tasks such as dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, bathroom cleaning, trash disposal, bedding changes, and kitchen tidying.
- Laundry: Help with washing, drying, and putting away laundry.
- Meal Prep: Assist with meal preparation.
- Shopping: Accompany client (or independently travel) to obtain groceries as per their list.
- Medical Appointments: Accompany client to appointments and provide support in following health directives.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in caregiving or related field preferred.
- Willingness to administer a subcutaneous injection bimonthly. (Willing to train the right person).
- Empathetic and helpful demeanor.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Reliable transportation for client assistance outside the home.
Schedule:
- Flexible hours available, with shifts distributed throughout the week.
- Part-time position, with mornings preferred.
