Job Summary
A Retail Sales Associate is responsible for all sales activities and sales associate job duties, from greeting customers, answering questions, offering assistance, suggesting items, lending opinions and providing product information. Individual responsibilities as a Retail Sales Associate may include demonstrating outstanding customer service and selling skills, keeping the selling floor stocked with merchandise, assisting in display of merchandise or organizing the selling floor and stock areas.
A Retail Sale Associate must process payments by totaling purchases; cash and store or other credit cards. Must also be able to deal with customer refunds courteously and professionally. Maintains a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting store’s commitment to our customer. Develops product knowledge by reading current vendor tags and pamphlets and attending training classes in order to communicate it to the customer. Stays current with promotional events and sales.
General Accountabilities
- Greets visitors and ascertains name and other pertinent information. Notifies appropriate employee of visitor's arrival. Keeping visitor in the lobby until he can be helped by the appropriate person
- Answers telephone(s). Determining if caller can be helped by receptionist if need to be routed to another person. Routes calls for employees as appropriate
- May discern appropriate information through computer or hard copy files, company or department publications and guidelines and/or personal knowledge.
- Accurately takes and delivers messages.
- Maintains log of all calls requiring further action.
- Accepts and signs for packages addressed to department. Delivers package(s) to addressee or notifies addressee of package arrival.
- Performs a variety of routine clerical tasks (may include processing of incoming and outgoing mail, sending and delivering FAX messages, arranging for and maintaining logs for package pickup and delivery, photocopying and collating, etc.), as time permits.
- Assures that retail area is clean and orderly.
- Receives legal tender as payment for merchandise or services and makes accurate change, as required, in accordance with department's policies and procedures.
- Assists supplying register with cash for day's transactions.
- Assists balancing register proceeds and receipt tape totals at end of day.
- Maintains adequate supply of cash for the purpose of making change.
- Observes customers to determine their credibility.
- Examines price tags, checks and customer identification to determine their authenticity.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
- Must have a positive, patient, outgoing attitude and be welcoming and considerate to all customers.
- Responsible for greeting customers and providing guidance about the products and consumption methods that will be most effective for them.
- Take inventory or examine products to identify items to be reordered or replenished.
- Restock shelves with products as needed and keep stock room well-organized.
- Provide exceptional customer service with a high degree of professionalism.
- Be familiar with rewards program and current deals.
- Assist in general cleaning at the facility.
- Complete discretion and confidentiality is required of this position at all times.
- Possess strong sales skills.
- Have proficiency in basic computer applications and point of sale software systems.
- Assist in other departments as needed.
- Complete all tasks delegated by the supervising manager and treat all team members with respect. Be a team player and be flexible when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.50 - $16.04 per hour
