What are the responsibilities and job description for the Childcare Teacher PRN position at DCCCA?
Part-Time/PRN
The Childcare Teacher designs and implements age appropriate curriculum and activities for client children.
Position Overview:
-Creates a safe client environment by performing all required security and safety procedures
-Assists in the client's orientation of treatment goals, program rules and structure
-Submits a written incident report in the event of unusual client behavior or activity while in DCCCA's care
-Maintains an orderly and appealing classroom that is a warm and safe environment in which children are allowed to grow, develop and explore
-Implements programs and activities that develop the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of the children
-Prepares materials, makes lesson plans based on a curriculum outline and follows approved activity plans
-Interacts with the children on their level and encourages child involvement in activities
-Observes, records and reports significant individual and/or group behavior
-Allows for parent input on program activities
-Establishes and maintains good communication with parents on a daily basis
-Uses appropriate, positive and consistent discipline that helps to maintain classroom order
-Maintains accurate records and files
-Informs co-works, clinical and administrative staff of program goals/developments for children and parents
-Assigns support staff responsibilities, changes scheduled daily activities and room arrangements as necessary
-Discusses both positive and negative child behavior and activities with parents
Requirements Include:
-Requires at least one of the following, or the ability to obtain one of the following within six months of employment:
-A Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Certified Childcare Professional (CCP) credential, or equivalent; or
-An associate's degree in early childhood education or child development; or
-A bachelor's degree in a related field with two years of post-graduate experience in early childhood education
-Requires CPR, AIDS in-service hours and annual TB testing with a negative test result (residential programs only)
