DCG Communications (DCG) is seeking a well-rounded, organized, enthusiastic and proactive Communications Specialist (Associate) to coordinate event registration and logistics activities and develop a wide variety of internal and external communications products on behalf of our federal client. You’ll join a team with an unmatched mission – to prevent Veteran suicide. In this role, you will work alongside project managers, senior writers, and graphic designers, to lead several high-priority content development initiatives. You will also support the team’s efforts to ensure suicide prevention resources and information reach our client’s target audiences through events. The ideal candidate is someone who has a strong attention to detail, superb organizational skills, can develop and maintain a positive rapport with executive level clients and is looking for an opportunity to roll up their sleeves, learn and grow with the team. 

The Communications Specialist will develop internal and external content to provide continual engagement with the client’s audiences based on their preferred messaging, channels, formats, and outreach, to support the client and increase awareness of and participation in its programs. This may include but is not limited to articles, social media posts, fact sheets, FAQs, PowerPoint presentations, and press releases. They will assist in the creation and development of meaningful campaigns that garner impact and awareness on suicide prevention efforts for Veterans and their loved ones. 

In this role, the Communications Specialist will also coordinate directly with event organizers to secure the client’s presence at various conferences and conventions. To support the client’s presence at these events, the Communications Specialist will provide logistical support to arrange materials procurement and shipment.

Location: At DCG, many of our team members including this role are remote. DCG is committed to hiring talented employees across the United States. The selected candidate will work during DCG’s core Eastern Standard Time business hours.  

Position Requirements: 

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in journalism, creative writing or communications 
  • A minimum of three (3) years of relevant professional experience supporting communications and marketing campaigns, preferably in an agency setting 
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities 
  • Excellent writing skills with experience developing and/or editing a variety of communication products, including but not limited to blog and social media posts, digital media ads, outreach toolkits, one-pagers, newsletter articles, presentation materials, and other traditional communications products
  • Experience owning client deliverables from concept to completion and demonstrating strong writing skills for content generation 
  • Proven to have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, an eagerness to work in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to manage a diverse workload 
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and manage multiple deadlines
  • Proven experience creating your own writing themes and calls to action, developing writing processes, outlines and edits based on client feedback
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to problem solve and drive outcomes
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
