What are the responsibilities and job description for the Microwave Technician position at DCH Health System?

Infinity Technology Solutions, a division of Mobile Communications America, Inc. is seeking an experienced Microwave Technician for Mooresville, NC. The candidate will be performing tasks associated with installation and/or maintenance of digital communication equipment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to new customer installations, service calls, de-installations, and network maintenance as directed by supervisors. candidate will be responsible for testing, analysis and evaluation of high reliability Nokia Wavence microwave radios, modules and/or systems. 

RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the following test equipment: Spectrum Analyzers, Logic Analyzer, B.E.R. testers, Power Meters, Amplifiers, Filters, Attenuators, Up/Down Converters, Power Supplies and RX/TX Converters
  • Set up, adjust, and calibrate standard test apparatus or devices
  • Analyzes and records testing results. 
  • Utilize test equipment to conduct functional, operational, and environmental testing.
  • Perform detailed RF test measurements such as gain transfer, frequency response, noise figure, modulation and return loss using manual and automated tests.
  • Understand the operation of various types of test equipment such as Power Meters, Frequency Counters and Spectrum/Network Analyzers.
  • Must have a strong technical electronics background, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to conduct failure analysis
  • Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with other employees, contractors, and the customer
  • Knowledge in concepts, characteristics, capabilities, and theoretical design of microwave radio equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-4 years’ experience in repairing and installing microwave radio systems
  • Must be SME Nokia certified on Wavence or ALU 9500MPR Microwave Radios or be able to pass certification testing within 90 days of employment.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: public safety communications systems, cellular infrastructure, military communications, civil infrastructure construction desired 
  • Understanding of two-way radio / cellular infrastructure communications products, services, and systems. 
  • Must be able to read and interpret CAD drawings and blueprints
  • Ability and willingness to learn additional technical skills quickly
  • Must have knowledge of microwave path alignment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (WORD, Excel, PowerPoint & Project)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear, utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend / descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.

Must have the ability to travel as needed. (Less than 50%) Some overnight travel may be expected.
