Position Summary
The Human Resources (HR) Manager aligns business objectives with employees and management for the designated facility. Serves as a consultant and business partner with management on HR issues, policy and programs. Assesses and anticipates HR business needs and communicates those needs proactively with the HR department and other departments. Seeks to develop integrated solutions and delivers value added service to management and employees that support the business objectives of the organization.
Essential Job Functions
- Provides qualified employees by developing and managing recruitment, orientation and retention programs.
- Maintains records by establishing and managing a records management system assuring confidentiality.
- Keep employees informed by preparing and disseminating communications as well as responding to and analyzing requests for information.
- Updates employee handbook as necessary.
- Coaches and assists managers and employees on the broad spectrum of workforce management issues, to include employment laws, rules, policies.
- Maintains consistency across the plant by initiating, coordinating and enforcing HR policies and procedures and by managing all employment actions, including disciplinary action and employee counseling.
- Keeps the organization in compliance with federal and state employment laws by identifying and enforcing legal requirements; provide training on requirements and submitting necessary reports and filings.
- Protects employees and organizations assets by establishing and managing safety practices in conjunction with the operations team. Serves as a member of the safety committee.
- Improves employee satisfaction by identifying and responding to concerns, developing employee engagement activities and programs to enhance organizational commitment.
- Develops and manages specific HR metrics to measure efficiency of programs and set baselines for continuous improvement (e.g. retention, turnover, etc).
- Enhances organizational effectiveness by identifying and analyzing ongoing circumstances; implementing organizational development initiatives; developing and maintaining succession plans and providing training programs.
- Provides methodology for career planning and employee development through performance management and appraisal programs.
- Contributes to the organization’s effectiveness by offering information and ideas as a member of the management team; integrating objectives with other functions; accomplishing related results.
- Performs others duties as assigned.
Education/Training
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or other related course of study or equivalent experience.
- Professional certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or other related course of study or equivalent experience.
Experience/Knowledge/Abilities
Required:
- 5 to 8 years of HR generalist experience with supervisory experience.
- Effective written and oral communication skills necessary to explain complex human relations issues to all categories of employees.
- Ability to analyze complex situations.
- Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines in a fast paced environment.
- Strong training and coaching skills.
- Proficient in Windows Office programs.
Preferred:
- 8 to 10 years of supervisory HR experience.
