Large automotive dealer group looking for a Payroll Specialist. This is a critical role within any team and maintains knowledge of payroll-related processes to ensure timely and accurate payroll for all employees. This role works closely with employees across the organization. The Payroll Specialist will have experience processing payroll in ADP Workforce, including commission, calculations, and benefits. This position is required to work highly effectively both as part of a team and independently while being extraordinarily detail-oriented. This position requires an extremely high level of confidentiality. The successful employee will be able to consistently meet deadlines and have experience working with multiple departments.
What you will do
· Process bi-weekly payroll, including commissions for approximately 4 locations including exempt and non-exempt, multi-state, partnering closely with supervisors to ensure timecard accuracy.
· Audits PTO balances, hours, and deductions such as HSA, 401k, taxes, etc. biweekly.
· Process garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, or other payroll deductions.
· Provides quarterly tax verifications, worker's compensation, and other reports for auditing purposes.
· Process cash and non-cash incentive awards.
· Support internal and external payroll audit requests.
· Assist in payroll monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
· Manages third-party sick pay processing.
· Responds to employee inquiries with a sense of urgency and a spirit of problem-solving; resolves issues in collaboration with other team members when necessary.
· Process miscellaneous off-cycle checks, including final paychecks, severance, etc.
· Maintains a strong understanding of all internal benefit plans to answer employee questions.
· Other clerical and HR duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed
· Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in a related field or acceptable work experience
· Exceptional attention to detail
· Highly organized
· Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with all employees-from senior leaders to front-line staff
· Ability to implement and learn new technology
· Able to demonstrate complete discretion and confidentiality
· Effectively prioritize to ensure compliance and accurate record keeping and ensure payroll is processed in compliance with multi-state wage and hour laws.
· Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
· 4 years of full-cycle payroll experience, with strong experience using ADP Workforce
· Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
· Team-oriented and able to work with employees at all levels
· Understanding of payroll-related deductions (e.g. benefits, 401k contributions, etc.)
