Decision Counsel has an opening for a Head of Project Management based out of our Berkeley, California headquarters. We are in the process of creating a Center of Excellence (COE) for strategic client engagement in conjunction with our content studios and digital experiences teams. Experience in leading large client engagement teams and working with executive level decision makers is a must. Your blend of organizational, communication and motivational skills will be paramount to our success. You will thrive managing individual project managers, as they harness and manage delivery teams that include our designers, writers, technologists and account leads. Experience having successfully led similar groups is a big plus. A key part of this role will be leading weekly project status discussions and conducting regular performance reviews of the DC project teams’ performance. Decision Counsel has produced robust processes and tools to empower the success of our Center of Excellence.

This role is ultimately responsible for the profitable delivery of high-quality deliverables that power client satisfaction, meet business requirements, and manage the balance of client and DC internal expectations. We are seeking candidates with the following experience:

Qualifications:

  • 10 years in Project Management leadership in a large ad agency, marketing consultancy or strategic consulting firm
  • Ability to deliver effective leadership in both group and one-on-one settings
  • Proven experience motivating and empowering team members
  • Ability to define, communicate and measure clear expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates ability to drive urgent internal and external C-Suite initiatives through project management team members to achieve desired results
  • Native, mature and sophisticated technology skills; Solid knowledge and experience with enterprise applications, mobile applications and tech suites.
  • Able to identify, diagnose and eliminate business disruptors that damage communication between clients, third parties, and internal team members
  • Problem solving: Skillfully identifies and removes barriers to project success
  • Talent Selection: Demonstrates the ability to hire and retain highly capable people while fostering diversity and career development

Responsibilities:

  • Lead teams to drive complex programs/campaigns to completion based on scope, resources and budget.
  • Serve in a player/coach capacity when required. All DC senior executives are leads on an account.
  • Reviews key team SOWs to ensure accuracy, manage expectations and develop engagement strategy.
  • Ensure that team members are producing account-level master project plans
  • Proactively identify opportunities to adjust processes for efficiencies
  • Structure and lead project status reviews; leads cross-team post-mortem sessions
  • Partner with account leaders and project leaders to provide appropriate and consistent communication directly to client(s) in an effort to clearly manage expectations
  • Lead teams to develop and manage risk mitigation plans
  • Resource management, including rolling up resource data on large multi-lane relationships and manage increasing and decreasing resource needs
  • Executive collaboration with management peers
  • Point of escalation for vendor management concerns
  • Scope and estimate complex, multi-channel engagements
  • Establish solid, direct relationships with clients, serve as an escalation resource
  • Develop opportunities to expand/improve communication between clients, third parties, and internal teams
  • Ensure that project management tools are consistently utilized to achieve project goals and objectives and to deliver successful projects.
  • Serve as production lead on new business pitches; identifies upsell opportunities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $99,012.00 - $150,000.00 per year
