Located minutes from downtown Austin, Cedar Park Regional Medical Center is a level IV Designated Trauma Center with more than 600 healthcare professionals working together to provide inpatient, outpatient, surgical and emergency care for Cedar Park and the greater Austin region.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Echo Tech to join our team! This is a fulltime, day shift position, plus call. Under the supervision of a Cardiologist, The Echo Tech is responsible for conducting routine and complex echocardiography and vascular duplex ultrasound examinations and provides preliminary interpretation of studies performed. Examinations performed may include, but are not limited to:
- Trans-Thoracic Echocardiograms
- Trans-Esophageal Echocardiograms
- Stress and Contrast Echocardiograms
- Peripheral Venous and Arterial exams
- Extra Cranial Cerebrovascular exams
- Visceral Vascular exams
- Renal Vascular exams
Responsibilities
- Schedules patients for any and all procedures performed in the department that requires an appointment and coordinates appointments where necessary with physicians and/or other departments
- Identifies patient and enters demographics of patient into the computer of the Echo machine
- Edits and reprints confirmed Echo’s for doctor’s signature
- Makes reports available to patient’s charts and or physicians
- Files and retrieves reports of procedures performed in the department
- Operates Echo PACS computer and performs “back-up” and archiving
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe environment
- Addresses patient population-specific needs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associate's of Applied Science Degree in Cardiac Sonography, or related degree program is required
- Current certification from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in Diagnostics Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) in Adult Echocardiography (AE) is required
- American Heart Association (AHA) approved Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire
- Minimum of one (1) year of adult echocardiography experience in an acute care setting desired. Pediatric experience a plus
- Must be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge and skill in the performance of Trans-Thoracic Contrast Echocardiograms
- Experience in placing intravenous lines and administration of IV medications is desirable
- Experience in EKG interpretation and cardiac and vascular stress testing is preferred
- Must be willing to be on-call during after-hours, weekends and holidays, as necessary
