What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer Planner position at Defibtech?
Defibtech is seeking a Buyer/Planner, based out of our Branford, CT manufacturing site to review and schedule materials in support of the demand plan. Functioning within policies and guidelines set forth by the Purchasing Management, the Buyer/Planner will establish sources of supply, where applicable, for assigned material commodities regarding total cost, quality, timely delivery, and reliability
Core Responsibilities:
Manages the planning, ordering and delivery of all components, products, and services to ensure material plan and business needs are well supported.- Supports the material plan by requesting and reviewing supplier quotations and issuing purchase orders.
- Owns and performs material planning and scheduling for purchase orders. Coordinates closely with Defibtech Manufacturing and Contract Manufacturing to maintain customer demand needs.
- Routinely monitors the delivery schedule of materials and verifies alignment with the production schedule; expedites or reschedules deliveries, as necessary.
- Supports new product introductions, facilitates, and analyzes product phase-ins/phase-outs to identify parts to be obsoleted, standardized, rationalized, and requisitioned.
- Monitors key suppliers daily and escalates concerns of supply interruption.
- Procures raw materials, components, and services consistent with specified levels of quality, delivery, price, and total cost.
- Maintains ownership of the supplier relationship and seeks to build positive equity among our partners through effective and timely communication.
- Monitors market and key suppliers daily and escalates concerns of potential or forecasted supply interruptions.
- Provides key interface between Marketing and Operations concerning market demand and supplier commitment dates for product availability.
- Coordinates and communicates cross-functionally to facilitate continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provides team support within supply chain and warehouse, as necessary.
- Demonstrates Defibtech’s values on the job by focusing actions on Integrity, Passion, Ownership, and Innovation. Promotes and participates in continuous improvement.
- Actively supports compliance of Company operations to all applicable laws, regulations and standards, good business practices and company documented procedures (including but not limited to FDA, Quality Systems Regulations, safety regulations and applicable statutes).
Qualifications / Requirements:
At least 5 years professional experience in a manufacturing environment and inventory control function is required.- Previous buyer/planning experience is required.
- Previous experience supporting buying/planning activities in a highly regulated industry is preferred.
- Must have a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to work across multiple functions and organizational lines.
- Comfortable with the use of computers and other electronic media including an in depth understanding of Microsoft Excel and an understanding of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing requirements and ability to assess supplier capabilities.
- Highly adaptable and flexible to accept new ideas, people, and procedures and adapt to a changing environment.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Work is primarily based in an office setting with frequent computer use, occasional work within a warehouse setting.- Travel can be up to 15%
- Work that includes frequent, sitting and occasionally standing/walking; occasionally lifting/carrying objects up to 25lbs assisted or unassisted.
