What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Controls Engineer position at DEKA Research & Development?
The Senior Control Systems Engineer for DEKA’s Autonomous Robotics team, will lead a team of Engineers implementing linear/nonlinear filtering, estimating, and tracking to the state of the art technology. Will collaborate with mechanical, electronic-hardware, embedded systems, machine learning, and software teams of engineers to build and design technologies having a positive impact on millions of people worldwide. Will perform the following specific duties on day-to-day basis:
- Oversee the development and maintain control systems for innovative robotics products using linear and optimal controls theory
- Lead a team of Engineers in developing and designing new prototype devices using navigation and path planning and sensor fusion techniques
- Supervise design systems using mechanical, electrical and primarily software development skills involving Python, C and Robot Operating System (ROS)
- Create requirements for control systems, failure modes and effect analysis
- Coordinate Embedded Machine Learning algorithm design, development, deployment, and analysis
- Design, develop, and apply various linear/non-linear control and estimation algorithms and evaluate performance on a simulated basis and in the real world
- Collaborate with various teams to achieve objectives in improving performance and safety
The minimum requirement is a MS in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering or related engineering discipline. Three years of experience in any suitable occupation related to the development of autonomous robotics controls is required. Experience must include:
- Experience with ROS Python and C
- Working with Optimal controls theory, state estimation theory, linear algebra, uncertainty analysis, mathematical modelling and understanding of Machine Learning systems
- Experience with control of linear and non-linear systems in robotics
- Experience with Navigation and path planning or sensor fusion
