Software Engineer - Test Automation

DEKA Research & Development, located in Manchester, NH, is seeking a Test Automation Software Engineer. As part of our growing enterprise cloud team, you will have the opportunity to design and implement secure, scalable, and reliable systems using Agile development techniques. Your mission will be to ensure the highest level of software performance, reliability and quality for a connected medical device system. You will be a key contributor in a project-specific team, working side-by-side with architects, program managers, quality and DevOps engineers focused on developing cloud-native solutions for your project. You will draft test strategies and designs, write automated integration tests and test procedures to verify functional and non-functional requirements, perform code and documentation reviews, and contribute to software validation and verification activities. You will also be working cross-functionally with the broader project team, ensuring your designs work over time and within the context of larger systems.

To be successful in this role, you will need the following skills and experience:

• Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar discipline
• 3 years of combined automation testing and development experience
• Experience building or testing scalable and secure computing systems, software architecture, data structures, and algorithms
• 2 years of experience with Java or Groovy
• Experience with some of the following test frameworks: Spock, JUnit or comparable technologies
• Experience with test-driven development and a demonstrated ability to contribute to test design and development
• Working knowledge of secure software development life cycle best practices
• Ability to create and modify existing general development practices and techniques such as unit testing, integration testing, security testing, and code quality measurement
• Proven track record of problem solving, problem prevention, troubleshooting, and performance tuning
• Excellent collaboration skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Commitment to code quality and adherence to established standards

Desired skills and experience:

• Container technologies including Docker, Kubernetes
• Relational and/or NoSQL database technologies
• CI/CD tools including Maven, Jenkins, GitLab
• Experience in building cloud-native solutions that run on AWS, Azure, or hybrid deployments
• Solid understanding of Microservices and Event-driven architectures, cloud-native design patterns, principles, methodologies and their trade-offs
• Experience with Spring Framework, Node.js, Angular, and Gradle or comparable technologies
• Experience with IEC 62304 and cybersecurity in medical devices a plus
