POSITION SUMMARY
DEFINITION
Under direct supervision, to perform a variety of administrative tasks in the areas of general office management; and to perform other job-related duties as required.
CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
It is further characterized by the responsibility to provide a variety of administrative services to a small facility department, division or a program within a larger department; or to perform one or more specific administrative functions to complement centralized administrative services for an entire facility department.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:
Education
Completion of high school or equivalent, supplemented by college courses.
Experience
One to three years clerical experience in a healthcare setting, and/or medical environment.
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Efficient office principles and procedures
Computer software programs such as MS Word and MS Excel; modern office methods
Ability to:
Analyze office management and administrative problems in order to devise workable solutions
Prepare clear and concise reports
Effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals and groups
Establish rapport with and maintain cooperative, productive working relationship with staff, volunteers, groups, and the community
Establish and maintain necessary records and controls prepared reports charts and correspondence
Operate CRT, PC, Fax, photocopier and PBX
Obtain and record accurate information
Type at a minimum of 30 words per minute
