The Capacity Analyst is responsible for determining the functional capacity of their assigned area.   This position works with functional leaders to determine the hourly capability of each headcount by function.  Through observation, time studies, historical analysis and strategic input, the Capacity Planner will create specific plans in hourly increments.  These shall be by function, machine and employee level. The overall goal of the position is to meet customer requirements for on-time delivery while maximizing production output and machine integrity. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills to identify and mitigate risks in the planning of project schedules. Coordination with many functional departments as necessary to develop and maintain project timelines.  

The Capacity Analyst job description is intended to point out major duties and authorities within the position, but it is not limited to these items.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Analyze and assess capacity impacts across functional departments through historical data, time studies, and process improvements.
  • Prepare recommendations on capacity changes for planning of schedules.
  • Publishing long and intermediate-term capacity schedules.
  • Developing reporting solutions, through effective information gathering with functional partners.
  • Maintains KPI’s, including hours per machine, re-work, employee level, timeframe and others as deemed required.
  • Works with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Scheduling teams to assess capacity and provide recommendations on constraints (new hires, overtime, rescheduling, etc.).
  • Work with Accounting and Applications Engineering to ensure time and costs are updated for quoting purposes.
  • Collaborates with Scheduling to provide estimated lead times on customer proposals; also periodically evaluates the feasibility of expedited requests.
  • Makes recommendations and participates in process improvement activities to help improve operational efficiencies.
  • Assists with the development and implementation of new processes.
  • Implements critical path project management and lean principles in the scheduling process.
  • Performs other tasks or duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Accounting or equivalent education and experience.
  • Three plus years of production/manufacturing/material planning experience or equivalent.
  • Two years of planning/scheduling experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment involving engineered to order business, is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of production, warehouse, and procurement processes used in manufacturing.
  • Able to effectively manage and execute multiple tasks and projects.
  • Proven analytical problem solver with the ability to streamline processes and integrate/analyze data from various sources, using business sense and technical skills to develop practical project management solutions for clients.

  • Able to assertively and confidently push for definitive answers when needed and hold others accountable for their portion of the project schedule.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills; coordinate complex projects, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Establish and maintain productive relationships internally.
  • Ability to produce excellent written and verbal communication at a professional business level.
  • PC knowledge/experience and the ability to utilize the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint).
  • Able to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities.

Interpersonal Communication

  • Communicates clearly and effectively (verbally and/or non-verbally) to individuals and groups to exchange ideas and accurately convey detailed information.
  • Works well with a variety of people and personalities and with other Delkor departments.
  • Works collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner.
  • Able to be assertive and confident when dealing with internal customers and able to push back when necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Sit at a desk or in meetings for extended periods, including performing extensive computer tasks.
  • Stand and walk for a portion of the day to interact with other employees.

Work Environment

  • Ninety percent (90%) of the work duties are performed in an office setting, carrying out detail work sitting at a desk and working on the computer.
  • Ten percent (10%) of the work is performed on an assembly floor with exposure to tools, dirt, dust, chemicals, metals and plastics, varying temperatures, construction noises and odors from production processes.

Tools and Equipment

  • Use general office equipment such as a computer, telephone, printer, copier, calculator and other office equipment as applicable.
