What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Manager position at DeLallo?
DeLallo is seeking candidates for Production Manager in our New Stanton, PA facility. This position is responsible for the general maintenance, equipment, and production at the Penn Olive Packaging Plant.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Experience in a Production environment.
- Experience managing people and holding accountability.
- Responsible for safe operating practice and procedures in the overall maintenance of the facility.
- Opens the facility and begins setting up the daily production schedule for each of the production lines.
- Back-up to the Director of Operations in his absence.
- Other duties and responsibilities as directed and outline by the Director of Operations.
- Oversee the production of food packaging equipment in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) while ensuring the highest level of food quality, safety and presentation.
- Ensure compliance to quality and HACCP standards and record keeping. Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates (Safe Quality Foods).
- Responsible for product quality, meeting food safety requirements, knowledge of products, product quality factors and equipment capabilities.
- Oversee the cleaning and changing over of equipment for appropriate product manufacturing.
- Ensure adherence to product specification and maintains all proper documentation.
- Ensures correct labeling, including correct product code date.
- Ensure good proper working order, maintenance, preventative maintenance and documentation of equipment and facilities escalating any issues to the Operations Manager.
- Supports cost reduction goals by identifying and acting upon potential roadblocks and process improvements to reduce downtime and product failures.
- Maintains a clean and sanitary work area, complies with all protective equipment requirements and promotes a strong safety culture.
- The ability to communicate both verbally and written in an effective manner.
- Demonstrated ability to think independently and provide leadership and direction.
- Contact with all levels of management and personnel within the George DeLallo Co., Inc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Must have reliable mode of transportation and be on assigned job task/ production line as directed. Capable of bending, pushing, pulling or lifting up to 25 lbs. as needed; as well as, sitting, standing or climbing steps for long periods of time. Required to maintain a professional attitude and comply with all company policies and procedures. Must wear company issued uniforms and/or approved attire applicable to the job including safety shoes and equipment while performing work for the George DeLallo Co., Inc.
NEEDED ATTRIBUTES
APTITUDES: Ability to read, write and make simple calculations, and to organize tasks and schedules in an efficient manner. Ability to multi-task and change plans or adjust schedules on short notice.
TEMPERAMENT: Be aggressive but not offensive. Capable of adapting to different personalities encountered. Work well in a team atmosphere. Be goal oriented.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Prior experience in food manufacturing preferred.
- Possess a strong aptitude for math and problem solving.
- Knowledge, skills, and ability to operate computer programs is needed.
- Mechanical training or experience along with a mechanical aptitude is a must.
- Must be punctual and have a strong attendance record
- Enjoy working in and positively contributing to a team environment
- Demonstrate strong analytical, problem solving, and ability to relay information clearly
- Demonstrate high attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and follow-through
- Possess a strong sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
- Demonstrate clear, easy to understand, and professional written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to pass a drug a pre-employment drug test, physical and background check
