What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Director position at Delaware County Christian School?
DC is seeking an Athletic Director who will encourage our student-athletes to pursue excellence in character, competition, and performance not for individual accolades but for the God we serve. The Athletic Director is responsible for all aspects of the DC athletic program and will work alongside Division Heads of the Upper School, Middle School, and Lower School in matters pertaining to the overall athletic program of the school. Interested candidates will be experienced in athletic programming and skilled in relationship building across divisions, student groups, parent networks, and teams. Candidates will also be enthusiastic about planning and organizing athletic activities/programs, oversight of athletic facilities, and recruiting.
Requirements:
- Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and a solid understanding of the Word of God
- A strong philosophical commitment to Christian education and the mission and parent promise of DC
- Understanding of and alignment with DC’s perspective on athletics
- Proven leadership in an academic setting is required. Prior Athletic Director experience in a K-12 academic setting preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
Skills Required:
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to servant leadership
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to oversee and manage the athletic budget
- Long term view of athletics, developing programs at elementary and MS level to support JV and varsity programs
- Ability to manage athletic staff & operations, including development of coaches to lead/train athletes in a manner consistent with DC’s Mission
- Strong negotiation and peacemaking skills, responding professionally to requests and concerns from internal and external audiences
