Applies comprehensive knowledge and experience to solve routine technical tasks and/or system issues that may typically performed by reference to Technical Maintenance manuals or similar documentation. Work and performance duties may require review by higher level Technicians to ensure compliance with accepted practices and/or standard operating procedures. Work being performed for the first time and any task for which the employee is not documented as being proficient will require review by the assigned manager, or Field Engineer to ensure work is completed accurately and safely. When certified, technician may provide guidance and instruction to lower level Technicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
In this job, the Electronic Technician III
- Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems, those typically solved by properly interpreting maintenance manuals or similar documents.
- Receives limited technical guidance, as required from supervisor or higher-level technicians and work is reviewed for specific compliance with accepted practices and work assignments.
- Capable of interpreting and working with computer systems utilizing various and multiple operating systems.
- Identifies and replaces defective parts in electronic circuits and associated hardware.
- Utilizes drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams to trace circuits.
- Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities and corrective actions utilizing the Maintenance Management data base system.
- Diagnoses malfunctions of computers, associated equipment, and performs operability/readiness tests and repair.
- Performs systems interface/fault isolation.
- Interprets mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schematics and drawings and creates simplified versions when needed.
- Conducts voice communications on phone, inter-phone and radio circuits.
- Maintains device requirements, system design standards.
- Implements basic modifications to existing simulators and training devices. Maintains good relations with customers and ensures information flows within technical organization.
- Implements basic modifications to existing simulators.
- Conducts quality control inspections and inspect maintenance work performed.
- Will be responsible for implement training plans for lower level Technicians and evaluate their progression.
- Must demonstrate the ability to solve a variety of complex simulator and or aircraft system problems.
Additional Duties
- Performs additional duties in support of contract programs such as Electrostatic Discharge, PMEL, HAZMAT, Tools and FOD accountability, Bench Stock, etc.
- May perform logistical support tasks such as shipping and receiving, packaging, material control, inventory control, Maintenance and Logistical data entry and other material control duties as assigned.
- The Tech III’s will support Site Lead to ensure all requirements within the Site are met and providing, at a minimum, one Tech III for each shift to ensure continuity and high-level expertise within each shift. The Tech III will ensure each shift is adequately supported and will be the primary point of contact for the Site Lead when needed.
Qualification Requirements
- Forklift certification (as required)
- Security + Plus Certification (mandatory), or able to obtain within 6 months.
- Must be highly skilled at use and operation of test equipment, including torque wrenches, “O” scopes, frequency meters, volt/ohm meters, calibration test sets, etc…
- Must possess advanced skills necessary to diagnose and isolate malfunctions in electronic systems; align, adjust and calibrate installed training devices; interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and electronic schematics.
- Must possess advanced skills to perform calibrations, adjustments and tests on electronic equipment, analyze operation, verify discrepancies, isolate malfunctions and replace defective components.
- Must be highly proficient in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results to isolate faults.
- Must be highly adept in the use of test equipment, repair of micro/miniature printed circuit boards, electro/mechanical systems and devices to include projection display systems, electronic motion control systems, electronic control loading systems and computer-generated sound systems.
- Must be able to perform routine preventive maintenance actions using maintenance cards, work instructions and instructional manuals to perform daily system readiness checks, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts.
- Must be able to work team environment, or independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to effectively deliver oral presentations to management and the customer.
- Must either have a DoD Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma or higher with equivalent education and/or completion of an advanced civilian or advanced military electronics program.
- Must have a minimum of 4-6 years C-130J Model aviation experience.
- Five (5) to Seven (7) years’ experience as a Flight Simulator Maintenance Technician or equivalent.
- Experienced in troubleshooting complex non-routine problems on flight simulation equipment, including digital and analog hardware/software, and motion systems.
- Experience in conducting advanced training in troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating critical solid-state equipment.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular technical field.
- Must be highly skilled in technical writing and presentation skills.
- Experience in component level test and repair of microprocessor-controlled equipment and working knowledge of UNIX, RedHat and FORTRAN languages.
