VMware Cloud on Dell EMC is a new service VMware launched at VMworld 2019. This IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) on-premises service for Edge and Data Center locations defined the market category "Local Cloud as a Service" (LCaaS) and is one of the critical pieces of VMware's Hybrid-Cloud/Multi-Cloud strategy. The service is based on leading enterprise virtualization solution also known as VMware Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) and is a joint effort with Dell EMC as a hardware partner. The service builds on top of creative compute, network and storage virtualization offerings along with industry leading hardware to provide best in class on-premise cloud service.The service is built within the Cloud Platform Business Unit in VMware and is funded and operates like a start-up. 


We are looking for a Product Line Manager who is passionate in working in a small group with all the challenges of an early stage company like scale, operations, features, GTM etc.. As a product manager in this role you will be responsible for defining the requirements for the service with a focus on Compute and Storage virtualization and related supporting cloud services but willing to take on additional responsibilities as the small team demands to get the job done. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for defining product features and releases
  • Work directly with engineering and UX to build exceptional products
  • Build unrivaled differentiators for your products based on market analysis & customer feedback promoting these in social media, user groups & conferences
  • Demonstrate high levels of creativity and right judgments, most of the time
  • Understand business context to decisions made within and across groups
  • Maintain a current understanding of industry and technology trends.
  • Contribute to VMware's growth by working directly with our customers


Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Product Management with an technical engineering background
  • Experience in Compute, Storage virtualization (Hyper Convergence is a big plus)
  • Working knowledge in Networking technologies (routing, switching, network virtualization etc..)
  • Experience launching or creating new services/products
  • Good understanding of Data Center and Edge operations
  • A strong customer first attitude
  • A real passion for product design and design thinking.
  • Proven ability to work with sales and sales engineering teams.
  • Excellent social skills and experience leading complex enterprise partnerships
  • Confident decision-making with the ability to influence internal and external partners
  • A roll up the sleeves approach to getting the job done
  • Strong partnering & teaming behavior to bring together diverse views
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation abilities
  • Master's in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science


Preferred

Understanding of Hybrid/Multi cloud technologies
Understanding of VMware SDDC technology is a big plus
