Work you'll do
We are looking for practitioners with a strong actuarial foundation who are looking to bring creative and innovative solutions to our clients. As a Manager within our R&WB team you will:
- Perform valuation services for pension and post-retirement medical plans
- Prepare plan design alternatives for pension and post-retirement medical plans
- Benchmark key benefit metrics across industries to inform our clients
- Project future plan costs for key decision-makers at our state and local government clients
- Analyze claims and perform rate-setting process for state and local clients
- Prepare and present key findings to clients
- Perform project tasks independently, and may direct the efforts of others
- Participate in and/or lead the development of deliverable content that meets the needs of the client and contract
- Anticipate client needs and formulate solutions to client issues
- Review deliverables for accuracy and quality
- Provide coaching to junior staff
- Contribute to new business proposals and proposal development
- Manage own personal and professional development; seek opportunities for professional growth and expansion of consulting skills and experiences

Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other business related field
- 8 years of relevant single employer pension plan actuary experience
- 4 years of team leadership experience
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation creation tools, as well as internet research tools
- Attained actuarial credentials such as ASA, EA, or FSA
- Must be able to obtain and maintain required clearance for this role
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Willingness to travel at least 50%
Preferred:
- Experience working on single employer or multi-employer pension plan data
- Experience or familiarity with public sector clients who fall under GASB
- Experience or familiarity with private sector clients who fall under ERISA (Section 4044)
- Experience performing non-traditional actuarial work, developing creative approaches to problems
- Experience identifying and validating pension plan data
- Experience performing benefit calculations
- Experience supporting consultations on pension plan administration leading practices, including process and operational efficiencies
- Experience working with Form 5500 data
- Experience with ProVal
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $119k to $199k. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
