Description
The Controller will be primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the overall accounting procedures and controls of the organization in all areas of financial management (Record to Report [R2R[, Procure to Pay [P2P], Order to Cash [O2C]). The Controller will have responsibility for closing and generating all financial statements on a month-to-month basis in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and will work with management to design and maintain a comprehensive set of controls for financial risk mitigation. The incumbent will also assist management in improving and documenting procedures and internal controls throughout the finance organization, employing an entrepreneurial spirit and a “roll-up the sleeves” approach, in a small yet rapidly growing organization. This is a hybrid position, two days onsite (Hayward, CA) and three days remote.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Responsible for month-end, quarter-end, year-end close, and preparation of major financial statements including, income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, as well as account reconciliations, and fluctuation analysis
- Act as lead in continuous review and documentation of accounting department guidelines, policies, procedures, and controls to ensure efficient operation and quality audit results
- Day to day management of transactional finance processes including accounts payable, billing & collections, and payroll processing
- Ensure integrity of financial data used by organization management and investors, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements, and tax filings
- Maintain and improve the cost accounting function, working closely with management to accurately cost products from raw materials throughout the manufacturing process
- Work closely with management to support projects within the finance/accounting organization, directed at improving financial reporting timing and quality, budgeting/forecasting & long-term planning, and other ad-hoc projects
- Complete, in coordination with tax advisors, yearly tax preparation and filings for the business in an accurate and timely manner
- Experience and familiarity with payroll, taxation, and related transactions
- Main point of contact and manager of annual external audit process
- Performs other duties or responsibilities assigned over the course of employment

Fiscal
- Responsible for assisting in development and control of Finance & Accounting budget
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting
- CPA designation required
- 10 years’ experience in a controllership or similar position with direct hands-on experience with month-end close
- 5 years’ experience with cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP standards and internal controls
- ERP experience (Epicor a plus, but not required) with implementation experience of an ERP desired
- Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
