JOB DESCRIPTION
The Manager of People Relations will oversee all employee relations activities, policies, processes, procedures and demonstrates complex employee and labor relations expertise. The Manager is also responsible for managing the company's relationships with our employees and unions through the management of employee and service delivery matters, to include general inquiries and prevention and resolution of issues involving or affecting employees at all levels. In these efforts, the Manager of People Relations leads the People and Labor Relations teams.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leads and develops the team with a lens on continuous learning and improvement to achieve high performance and engagement
- Serves as a subject matter expert for labor, employment and service delivery related issues, trends, and practices, providing strategic and tactical support, consultation and guidance on complex matters across the employee lifecycle
- Develops, manages and maintains effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders including leadership at all levels, legal counsel and union representatives
- In partnership with executive and People leadership, drives the development and execution of labor, employee relations and People service delivery strategies with a lens on positive employee relations and world class customer service
- Negotiates, develops, maintains and interprets Collective Bargaining Agreements and employment policies and procedures in line with best practices and in support of organizational goals
- Represents the organization in grievances and arbitration, working to effectively resolve disputes between union-represented employees and management
- Manages, expands and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of the People Services Delivery Center and People Relations, refining processes, procedures and leveraging technology where possible in the pursuit of continuous improvement to achieve an optimal employee/customer experience
- Ensures accurate, thorough and timely service delivery in compliance with company practices and legislative requirements
- Stays abreast of state and federal employment laws and regulations and partners with internal and external legal counsel on employment litigation and claims
- Communicates trends and issues to various functional areas within the People Organization in an effort to proactively strengthen and shape program design and recommend solutions that maximize organizational excellence and performance
- Performs other duties as requested or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- 8 years of related experience w/Bachelor's degree; 1 years supervisory/management
- 3 years of supervisor/ management experience preferred
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead teams
- Expert communication skills, both written and verbal; particularly successful in listening and understanding various points of view
- Ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships at all levels and influence without direct authority
- Strong interpersonal, consultancy, problem solving and facilitation skills, including conflict resolution skills, mediation skills and the ability to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy
- Extensive experience working with unions
- Expert knowledge of employment, wage and hour, FMLA and EEO laws as well as functional and organizational programs, policies, practices and processes
- Ability to think strategically and in operational efficiencies, exercising a balance of both short and long term thinking
- Proven ability exercising sound judgement in decision making
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment in order to meet deadlines
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office

Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $92,000 - $196,500
