About the Opportunity
Great schools depend on great talent and leadership. The Director of Leader U will ensure that DPPS has strong talent management systems and infrastructures in place to develop individuals. The Director of Leader U will also be responsible for cultivating and developing a strong pipeline of leaders, ready to equip and empower staff to give our scholars the education they deserve. In partnership with the Senior Director of Talent Development, the Director of Leader U will help to set the vision for how Democracy Prep grows leadership talent across our schools in Las Vegas, San Antonio, Baton Rouge, and New York. Preference for New York-based candidates or for candidates who demonstrate a willingness to relocate to New York or frequently travel to all regions.

What You’ll Do
- Lead the design and execution of the curriculum and coaching of all Leader U Fellows and Residents so that it is both high-quality, aligned to DPPS school leader success metrics, and is predictive of future school leaders’ success. Leader U is Democracy Prep’s in-house leadership development and pipeline program.
- Oversee the development and execution of other school-based leadership development including Assistant Principal development, Emerging Leaders, and Teacher Leader Institute to ensure a strong network-wide succession plan.
- Coach and guide our new leaders to get results by being alongside them on campuses as they learn new and practice new skills
- Responsible for making evidence-based recommendations for leader placements to the Senior Director of Talent Development and Superintendent
- With the Senior Director of Taand Leadership Recruitment Manager, ensure that the Leadership Immersion interview process is rigorous, robust, aligned to leadership competencies, and equitable.
- Serve as collaborator and thought partner to school and CMO leaders in developing their teams to be equitable, inclusive and outcomes-driven.
Required Education, Experience, and Core Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 years school leadership experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take initiative
- Keen attention to detail
- Highly Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel) and Google Drive
