Summary

  

The Warehouse Supervisor will achieve positive results through all aspects of the supply chain, including shipping, receiving, and material handling. Effectively manage issues and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities with warehouse team and/or third party logistics/warehouses, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes and methods.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary.

  • Supervise warehouse associates, monitoring work and ensuring safe use of warehouse equipment, and engaging with EHS for safety audits and improvements. 
  • Provide leadership and direction to the warehouse team to ensure consistent execution of the daily logistics processes for the operations across the assigned coverage area. 
  • Conduct performance evaluations of subordinates and provide constructive and positive feedback as earned. 
  • Responsible for analyzing, organizing, and verifying all warehouse processes.
  • Ensure warehouse and storage areas are kept neat, clean, and organized. 
  • Coordinate material handler activities including stage daily production materials, intermediates (WIP) and weigh ups, transfer of materials needing tempering, as well as preparation of materials needing grinding or pre-sifting. 
  • Liaison with inventory controllers to ensure that stock movements and stock keeping standards are maintained in line with company guidelines.
  • Participate and coordinate in stock transfers from multiple locations and ensuring WMS is kept accurate.
  • Responsible for managing inbound receivables at third party warehouses in WMS. 
  • Verify that orders are processed and shipped without errors and create the most cost-efficient delivery routes possible within any given constraints including best utilization of trucks, warehouse, human and financial resources.
  • Approve and manage returns and ensure items are dealt with promptly and appropriately. 
  • Maintain a working knowledge of Warehouse/Shipping modules of Tropos ERP.
  • Promote an environment of optimism, teamwork, accountability and performance.
  • Develop warehouse team members through training, coaching and feedback. 
  • Audit monthly cycle counts to verify actual inventory against ERP inventory levels, making adjustments as needed. Communicate same to appropriate parties.
  • Lead and drive continuous improvement in various activities of the warehouse, including safety, food safety, audit readiness, and efficiencies. 
  • Responsible for adhering to annual budget, while assuring the highest required level of quality and service excellence.
  • Effectively manage issues and evaluate continuous improvement opportunities with warehouse team and/or third party logistics/warehouses, recommend, and implement departmental policies and procedures, processes and methods.
  • Assures implementation of all preventive, predictive and corrective actions for the team, machinery and transport (warehouse as such).
  • Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems and assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Assist in investigating freight claims and bills.
  • Coordinate storage and pick up recyclables and trash. 
  • Approve time sheets and time off schedules. Schedule associates according to the needs of the business to meet the needs of our customers. 
  • Maintain working knowledge of all direct report responsibilities and provide coverage support when needed. 
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-3-5 years of experience preferred.
  • Or 2 years of college and 5-7 years of progressively responsible related experience;
  • or 4-year high school diploma and 7–10 years of progressively responsible related experience
  • Having or obtaining Forklift Certification/license required

Language Skills

  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend English. Interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write/query reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization without assistance.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
