Responsibilities
- Establish histology/IHC expertise, including method development, protocol standardization and instrumentation, for the company using both internal and external resources
- Apply relevant histopathology techniques, including immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, FISH, and molecular diagnostics in partnership with research and development scientists to discover and characterize drug mechanisms of action and novel biomarkers.
- Strong skill set in developing and implementing single and multiplexed immunohistochemistry methodologies from antibody selection, staining optimization
- Implement standard and novel techniques for histology, histochemistry, microscopy, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and in situ hybridization (ISH) experiments on non-human tissues.
- Train and oversee RAs and scientists on protocols, instrumentation and methodologies
- Prepare and maintain tissue fixatives and reagents/solutions for staining of tissue sections
- In collaboration with scientists, perform experiments requiring imaging and qualitative and quantitative analysis of staining
Requirements:
- PhD in Cell or Molecular Biology, or similar field, with 3-5 years industry experience or MS in a relevant field with 8-10 years industry experience, or equivalent.
- Expertise in histological techniques such as processing, embedding, sectioning, histochemistry, immunohistochemistry,multiplexed immunofluorescence, and in situ hybridization
- Experience working with both human and animal tissue
- Track record of staying up to date with the latest developments in the field, including automated histology systems and data management.
- Excellent planning, organization and time management skills, including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects and efficient use of ELN.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced team and able to adjust workload and responsibilities based on changing priorities
- Strong preference for candidates familiar with neuroanatomy and brain histology
