Denim Coffee Company is a Specialty Coffee Roaster with coffee shops in Carlisle, Chambersburg and Harrisburg.
NOW HIRING BARISTAS - We are currently hiring for Saturdays from 12-6:30pm at our downtown Carlisle shop (1 S Hanover St), and Sundays from 7:30am-3:30pm at our new Dickinson College shop (51 N College St), as well as coverage shifts as they may become available.
Pay is $8/hr plus tips, which typically results in average wages of $14 to $16 per hour with tips factored in.
Note: Must be available year-round to be considered. If you are in college and leave the area for breaks or in high school, we cannot consider you for this position.
Barista Duties:
Provide exceptional customer service as a Barista in our café. Honor customers through hospitality and provide a memorable coffee experience.
Essential Functions
- Greet all customers with a friendly smile.
- Provide friendly, efficient and personal service to each customer.
- Create a rapport with customers by learning their names and favorite drinks.
- Educate customers on all of our products.
- Maintain high quality and consistent product standards.
- Strive for the highest level of customer satisfaction.
- Accurately process transactions in the POS system.
- Cup and taste coffee regularly to maintain familiarity with product and quality standards.
- Stay informed of new coffee availability and attributes.
- Communicate with team members and management to solve problems and improve service.
- Support a positive work environment.
- Prepare baked goods, foods, smoothies and other drinks with quality.
- Maintain a clean workstation and atmosphere.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee
- Customer service that is executed in a personal and professional manner
- Understanding of coffee shops and specialty retail
- Desire to educate others about our coffee and espresso methods
- Strong attention to detail and healthy respect for cleanliness and sanitation
- Excitement about the task of ensuring that each customer has a quality experience in our café
- Open to criticism and constantly striving to improve
- Ability to multi-task with ease
Physical Demands
- Stand and walk – must be able to stand for shifts and move about the café including up/down stairs to retrieve inventory from basement
- Use of hands – operate espresso machinery
- Taste/Smell – ability to detect and perceive smell of coffee
- Talk/hear – frequently communicate with customers
Work environment
- Work is performed at the cafe
- The work environment can be noisy
