Partial hybrid work options may be considered with a majority of the week on campus.

The individual in this position should be available outside of normal work hours to assist in emergency events. As a result, it is expected to be reachable, within reason, via mobile device.

Basic Function
The Systems Administrator I leads the development and administration of endpoint patch management tools and systems. Provide tier 3 technical support for an environment of approximately 2000 managed devices across campus. Administer/support other related technologies in an evolving digital workplace.
Essential Job Functions
  • Lead development and administration of end-point patch management tools and systems.
  • In collaboration with the cybersecurity personnel, maintain a high standard of end-point patching and security, and support the testing, investigation, communication, resolution, and documentation of endpoint security incidents.
  • Provide Tier 3 support to Denison-owned endpoints in collaboration with the Client Experience team.
  • Serve as backup to the System Administrator for Endpoints for the administration of systems involved in the endpoint support ecosystem, including endpoint management tools, software update servers, endpoint patching, software packaging, endpoint disk encryption, and imaging/provisioning.
  • Serve as a backup for the administration of cloud technologies (Google Workspace, Azure AD, AWS, etc.)
  • Identity, evaluate, and recommend new products, technologies, roadmaps, strategies, and future trends in client-facing hardware & software, as well as potential areas for process improvement.
  • Participate in projects to advance the capability, administration, and support of university endpoints.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation of endpoint administration practices and processes.
  • Leverage APIs and scripts to build and maintain integration between different endpoint management systems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree from an accredited university in a field related to this role (significant relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree)
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10, macOS, iPadOS, etc.
  • Understanding of at least one endpoint management tool (SCCM, Intune, ZENworks, JAMF, etc.)
  • Familiarity with scripting/coding concepts and best practices.
  • Project planning and implementation experience.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and challenge decisions in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must work well independently and with others of varying technical skill levels.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong technical background, analytical and problem-solving skills, and communication ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrated adaptability with concurrent tasks and changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a field related to this role (significant relevant experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree)
  • In-depth expertise using at least one client management tool (SCCM, Intune, ZENworks, JAMF, etc.)
  • Experience with administration of cloud technologies (Google Workspace, Azure AD, AWS, etc.)
  • Experience with working with a directory service (Active Directory, eDir, etc.), utilizing Group Policies, user permissions, etc.
  • Strong scripting/ coding skills to leverage automation using APIs to integrate and maintain various endpoint management systems.

Physical Demands
Must be able to walk the campus, stairs/hills, and move up to 30 lbs using appropriate equipment or assistance as needed.
