Title: Safety Manager
Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
Duration: 12 Months
Job Description:
The Safety Manager II provides Safety Leadership for specific sections of an client or Plant Project and supports the applicable Project Management Team, Site Contacts and all Client Stakeholders. The safety manager's responsibilities include implementation of the project safety strategy to their area of responsibility, compliance with the client safety programs, interfacing with overall project contractors and delivering technical safety solutions to their respective project and to the overall project.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Allocation of Time: On-Site Safety Manager Function 100%
The Project Safety Manager II:
- Reports to the Project Manager or Safety Director and supports Project Stakeholders
- Is the Safety Area Owner of the full implementation of the Project Safety Strategy
- Responsible for the compliance of SAF-072 and all relative Safety Guidelines
- Serves as the Safety Subject Matter Expert for responsible areas
- Contributes to and Administers the Project Site Specific Safety Plan
- Ensure Project Leadership Team is informed of High-Level safety issues
- Ownership of Incident Investigation and Provides Case Management Expertise
- Participates in Monthly Communication Meetings End to End as needed
- Oversee and Manage the Safety Orientation and On-Boarding Processes
- Will work with and mentor the performance of the Project Safety Advisors
- Performs trend analysis of safety data and metrics information
- Oversee Effectiveness of the Monthly Contractor Performance Review Process
- Facilitates and Manages the Sub-Contractor Pre-Qualification process
- Reviews sub-contractors safety programs, OSHA Logs, EMR Data
- Provides Recommendations on contractor Capabilities / Method Statements
- Ensures adequate Contractor S&H oversight for all construction work activities
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Project Safety Manager II will:
- Report to the Project manager or Safety Director III
- Interacts and Works Closely with Project Safety personnel
- Reports issues per the project communication flowchart
- Has the authority to direct safety responsibilities for the Project Safety Team
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leads by action and example with a sincere attitude toward managing risk every day
- Fosters a proactive safety culture through a professional and caring approach
- Provides any required Monthly reports to the Project Leadership Team
- Coordinates with the Project Site Contacts and PM throughout project development.
- Facilitate or Lead applicable project safety meetings.
- Coordinates with Project Safety Personnel for unity of overall safety program
- Assists with Support functions - value engineering and risk management initiatives.
- Communicates regularly to assure satisfaction with safety services provided.
- Contributes to the project closeout processes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATION (Minimum):
- OSHA 500/510/511, GSP, ASP, CHST or CSP Certification
- Safety Program Administration/ Development Experience
- Proficient in Risk and Incident Management
- Regulatory Compliance Understanding / Experience
- Intermediate to Advanced Computer Competencies
EXPERIENCE (Years/Type):
- 5 years Construction Safety/Training Experience
- Relevant Technical Construction Understanding / Experience
- Demonstrated Safety Leadership
- Experience in managing projects through all phases of construction
SKILLS:
- Must be highly articulate analytical approach to problem solving.
- Possess strong decision-making abilities and be able to work independently
- Possess strong communication and presentation skills
- Strong interpersonal and inter-relational skills.
- Must be able to handle numerous technical, commercial, and administrative skills
- Thorough understanding of Construction and Project Management

- Understand and utilize Information Technology - including Internet, MS Windows, Adobe Acrobat, MS Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Project, Access, One Note)
