Job Description


Dentsu Creative’s Editorial Department is seeking an Associate Editor to support a food and retail client with writing and editing a food and cooking magazine, as well as stepping in as needed on social, digital, and newsletter efforts. Among other things you will:

  • Be brimming with ideas. You are excited about food and retail, and want to tell stories and bring to life the people and organizations working in that space. To that end, you will run the front of book of a food and cooking magazine, overseeing the lineup and idea generation stages for each issue, writing copy for the front of book or longer features as needed, making assignments, and acting as the first line editor for front-of-book work.
  • Attend client meetings to understand client goals and feedback.
  • Attend photo shoots (virtual or in person) as needed.
  • Support the Managing Editor and Executive Editor as needed with editing, writing, and reporting throughout the lifecycle of a magazine issue.

Qualifications
  • 3 years magazine experience (writing, editorial assistant, etc.).
  • Strong editorial skills (grammar, spelling, proofing, copyediting) and ability to learn and maintain a specific style based on a style guide.
  • Highly detail-oriented with ability to multitask and prioritize on multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexible problem-solver with ability and interest in finding ways to improve processes and increase efficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, collaborative attitude, positive outlook, and ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships to build trust and camaraderie.
  • Not necessary, but it is a plus if you: Have experience working in an agency environment,; understanding the print production process including InDesign and/or Asana and Workfront project management systems, and love cooking and/or reading/writing about food.

Additional Information


The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 - 60,000. Salary is based on many factors including relevant experience, skills, other job-related qualifications, and geography.
