Job Description
The Regional Field Manager, Planning is responsible for evaluating and recommending local and regional media opportunities that amplify national integrated media campaigns. The Regional Field Manager, Planning is accountable for the planning, implementation and tracking of regional media plans. The Regional Field Manager, Planning partners with the national Associate Media Director or VP, Director to set the strategic tone for regional media plans, ensuring the strategy is aligned with national objectives. The Regional Field Manager, Planning assists in the creation of all important plans and presentations related to regional media. The Regional Field Manager, Planning is expected to have a strong working knowledge of the media space (including digital media) and available media research.
The Regional Field Manager, Planning is an ideal role for an individual who is interested in, and has the ability to, straddle both the media agency world and the client-side arena. The Regional Field Manager, Planning is a highly visible role, and will provide a unique opportunity for the right individual to have a direct line-of-sight into, and significant impact with, both senior regional and national agency leadership, as well as direct daily contact with senior client management.
The main roles of the Regional Field Manager, Planning include, but are not limited to:
· Ensure the media components of event-driven packages planned / negotiated are of fair market value
· Create and present strategic recommendations for the most effective and efficient use of regional media budgets
· Assist local connections clients in influencing nationally-driven budgets within the region
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Media Planning and Execution:
· Manage preparation, development, execution and stewardship of regional media plans, and accountable for supporting the team and ensuring plans are executed in line with DAN and client processes and standards
o Work with senior team members to set communications objectives and strategies
- Identify the optimal channel mix and, where appropriate, the allocation by partner for each campaign (in conjunction with the DAN buying teams)
· Provide POVs on the value of media elements included within packages proposed by local connections clients
- Historically, most of the buys negotiated and secured directly have both media & event components. The Regional Field Manager, Planning must separate the media elements from the sponsorship cost, and ensure they are of fair market (or better) value.
· Demonstrate familiarity with both the national campaigns as well as specific regional programs that require local amplification
· Act as the internal point person, where appropriate, with DAN's Network, Spot, Print, Insight, Digital, Finance & Traffic departments
· Identify new vendors and emerging local and regional opportunities to be considered for future local and regional media buys
· Develop specific local market(s) expertise, insights & best practices to be shared with national planning teams as input to local campaign development
· Support DAN’s Planning teams in the following areas:
o Building plan presentations, budget tracking, flowchart management, & competitive analysis
o Contracting local media activity tied to experiential events
o Ensuring all relevant brand plans and campaign details are shared with key stakeholders
· Maintain & regularly update status document, inclusive of budget tracking & contracting status
· Develop and maintain timelines for all projects
· Balance, prioritize and properly assign work associated with multiple, concurrent projects
· Act as a final resource for all inventory, billing and invoice discrepancies
· Serve as a resource for planners and assistants for advice, counsel and mentorship
Client & Internal Relationships:
· Represent DAN at key client-related meetings (including conference calls, individual and group meeting with the client and the creative agencies)
· Establish trust and build positive working relationships with immediate team, both internal and external stakeholders, clients (Regional Leads, Brand Managers, etc.), and vendors
· Maintain local client relationships on a daily basis
· Understand the client’s needs at the local and national level
· Manages expectations of clients and deliverables
o Defend DAN’s position in the face of pushback from client(s)
· Grows business opportunities within current clients, where appropriate
· Have a thorough understanding of all elements of the brand and specifically its strategic target and prime prospects
Strategic Thinking & Leadership
· Provide guidance to team members and nurture/promote team environment
· Ensure key information is being provided to the team regarding client issues, internal agency issues, changes in account status, etc.
· Is approachable and solution-oriented when presented with problems/issues by staff, team, clients, etc.
· Is mindful of the client’s point of view when reviewing work, leverage this perspective when providing feedback to team and presenting to client
· Breaks down problems and issues into critical parts which can be resolved
· Oversees management of specific projects as assigned
· Oversee team activities, maintain overall quality control
· Is an engaged member of the media industry, and proactively solicits and contributes innovative ideas
· Assist in managing planner & assistant planner workloads; confirm all media authorization forms, goals, and tracking documents are accurate
Communications Skills
· Express oneself clearly and concisely in oral communications

Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree
· 3-5 years media experience
· Experience in traditional marketing and current knowledge of trends and innovations in traditional and digital media
· Experience creating and selling media programs
· Ability to articulate strategic foundation for their development
· Balanced ability to perform analytically and creatively
· Negotiate diplomatically and skillfully
· Strong communication and presentation skills
· Creative problem solving skills
· Multitasking and ability to negotiate planning timelines
· Ability to work in a team environment that promotes collaboration
· Specialization in CPG, QSR, or other relevant categories
· Proficiency in MediaTools or similar media management software
· Familiarity with Telmar or similar local R/F tools
· Proven leadership skills and management experience
· Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
