Food ServicesJob Summary
Under general supervision, prepares and cooks food for hospital patients, hospital employees and visitors. Prepares food according to recipes, menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served. Compiles and maintains records of food use and expenditures. Follows and implements HACCP guidelines. Complies with regulatory agency requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Cooks food according to menus, special dietary or nutritional restrictions, or numbers of portions to be served. (50%)
- Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including food processor, meat slicers, mixers, buffalo chopper, and blenders. (20%)
- Alerts supervisor to problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies. Detects and reports spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies and equipment or other unusual conditions. (10%)
- Maintains and establishes departmental policies, procedures, objections, quality assurance programs and health and safety standards. (10%)
- Ensures that necessary sanitary levels are maintained thought the food preparation process, and that all foods prepared meet existing standards for quality, freshness, taste and appearance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and follow recipes
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Must have basic math skills
- Understanding of culinary techniques and practices.
- Knowledge and familiarity with regulatory standards (e.g., Joint Commission, FDA, CLIA).
- Knowledge of inventory control principles and methods.
