Position Summary
Warehouse Manager is responsible for all aspects of strategic warehouse operations to support the ordering, storing, and distribution of materials needed to support Denver Water’s mission. Provides logistical support and acts as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders to source hard to find materials and supplies and ensure accurate financial reporting, quality assurance, and staff efficiencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide organizational guidance to internal and external stakeholders to analyze inventories and optimize/select vendors based on lead times, availability, costs, and raw material status.
- Provide ongoing assessments on the financial impacts of warehouse stock. understanding the cash impacts of the warehouse, expense reporting for capital projects and operations, as well as, the implications of returns, stock vs job site deliveries, and when and how each are adjusted. Provide financial reconciliations monthly to finance.
- Strategic warehouse management; including, review system technologies and understand technology advancements that would be beneficial to Denver Water, manage and monitor warehouse activities, provide or recommend training opportunities, and communicate with staff, supervisors, and customers regarding upcoming events and needed materials.
- Establish, administer, and optimize automated and manual systems and procedures for the receiving, inspecting, handling, classifying, storing, issuing, recording, controlling, and managing of all warehouse stock.
- Conduct studies of stock usage patterns to minimize obsolescence. Meet and develop strong relations with sales representatives to discuss needed requirements and resolve material issues. Evaluate vendor performance and compliance with specifications.
- Initiate just-in-time inventory strategies to minimize the acquisition and holding costs of materials. Authorize sales to the public when necessary and communicate with finance for recording.
- Maintain control over stock in storage. Establish security, inventory, and audit procedures. Maintain accurate records and assume responsibility for any inventory discrepancy.
- Ensure safety is a top priority within the warehouse operation and a priority for those persons who obtain materials from the warehouse.
- Act as contract administrator for all warehouse purchases of materials, supplies and equipment, coordinate transportation scheduling. Assist in public bid opening, perform evaluation of bids and purchases of materials and services, provide information on supplier capability, and technical data on new products, processes, and services.
- Plan, implement, and continuously improve current and long-range warehouse and yard space, layouts, and stock location systems. Research, evaluate, and select specialized material handling and storage equipment. Establish proper and safe methods of storage.
