As a transportation services representative you will explain vehicle laws, process transactions, and collect fees while adhering to privacy laws. Provide daily professional, efficient, respectful and timely customer service to the public. Interpret laws, rules, policies, procedures, programs and records while complying with privacy laws. Explain the use of forms for various transactions and inspect supporting documents for accuracy. Collect appropriate fees for transactions and balance receipts at the close of each business day. Provide applicants with driver license study material, explain the law test and conduct the vision test. Produce photo licenses, instruction permits and identification cards. Conduct all driver license examinations including behind-the-wheel skills tests. Perform a physical examination of vehicles to determine the correct vehicle identification number (VIN). May require standing for extended periods, working in inclement weather, overnight travel, working an irregular schedule and lifting up to 40 pounds. What we need: Two (2) years of public contact/customer service experience which involved dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services/programs or explaining and/or applying laws, rules, regulations/procedures; AND Experience or training using computers to retrieve and input data; AND Three (3) months experience collecting money and making change. Note: In addition to the above minimum requirements, this position requires the employee to collect money and make change. Note: Completion of an associate's degree will substitute for one (1) year of the public contact experience. Driving is an essential function of this position.
