The Department currently has an opening for one permanent full-time Facility Operations Specialist 2 within the Facilities section of ODVA in Salem, Oregon. This position does not currently support a remote work schedule. What you will do as a member of the ODVA team This position will maintain the Veterans' Building by completing preventative maintenance and necessary repairs to the building and operating systems. Responsibilities include performing, contracting for, scheduling, and monitoring all building maintenance, construction, repairs, and janitorial activities. This position maintains the HVAC system for the Veterans’ Building and monitors all building operating systems (i.e., lighting controllers, elevators, fire alarm systems, lock and electronic access control systems, etc.) and security systems, both manually and via computer controls As a Facility Operations Specialist 2, you will be responsible for the development of specifications and completion of contracts/interagency agreements for maintenance, repairs, and construction within the building and coordinates the planning and administration of projects at different stages of completion on an ongoing basis to support the agency’s mission and objectives at ODVA and the Veterans’ Homes in The Dalles and Lebanon. This position is responsible for building security and safety by responding to building security issues, resolving conflicts, and maintaining the agency’s key/key card and closed-circuit TV systems. The position maintains the agency’s motor pool fleet by scheduling and completing routine maintenance, transferring vehicles, requesting replacement vehicles, completing the monthly mileage report, and verifying the monthly billing for payment. For a complete listing of the duties and responsibilities for this position, please review the position description by clicking here MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree in civil, mechanical or electrical engineering or business administration AND three years of journey level experience in one of the major disciplines of the building trades AND one additional year of the experience identifying work program needs and preparing contracts; OR Six years of experience in one of the major disciplines of the building trades AND one additional year of experience identifying work program needs and preparing contracts. REQUESTED SKILLS: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with agency staff, building tenants and the general public Understanding of and experience with building operational systems such as lock and access control systems, general carpentry, HVAC systems, and a working knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems Ability to analyze and effectively solve problems and building issues Experience with various computer programs, Word, Excel, Outlook, Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), etc. In addition to your related work experience and education, we will use the requested skills below to determine whom to interview.
