This position performs entry-level accounting functions within the Eligibility Unit. Work involves analyzing all documentation submitted for accuracy, legibility and completeness, submitting payments and resolving discrepancies. This position is responsible for electronically approving an reconciling vouchers in the IMPACT System. Position also prepares payment vouchers. This position answers inquires by phone and email and provide administrative support regarding inquiries and requests for information. This position routinely works on other duties as assigned to ensure sufficient coverage in all Accounting areas.
Reviews documentation for accuracy, resolve issues and process payments. Responds to inquires and requests related to payment issues.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures affecting maintenance of accounting records and of automated accounting systems. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Skill in effective verbal and written communication.
Ability to use a personal computer to research, track and enter accounting information.
Ability to perform financial analysis; to interpret statutes; and to analyze, evaluate and summarize financial records for accuracy and conformity to procedures, policies and rules.
Ability to prepare clear and concise correspondence regarding accounting transactions.
Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Ability to handle multiple projects and meet demanding deadlines.

Accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, financial operations, banking or budget experience. ·Government accounting experience or Health and Human Services Administrative System (HHSAS)/PeopleSoft experience preferred.
